Queen Anne's - Torridge
Queen Anne's
Description
Nestled by the river, this café presents a mix of experiences, boasting warm hospitality and a diverse menu, including homemade dishes and delightful baked goods. Patrons rave about the fresh ingredients and generous portions, with indulgent options like cream tea and scrumptious scones. However, inconsistencies in food quality, portion sizes, and service can overshadow these positives. While some diners find their meals delightful, others criticize the lack of identity in the menu and cold, soggy dishes. Despite mixed reviews, the friendly atmosphere and beautiful location leave many customers eager to return, particularly when basking in the sunshine on the lawn.

Helpful and kind staff. Fully COVID ready which was great to see. Easy to followWe sat outside as it was a nice day. So queen annes breakfast which was really freshly cooked . Only complaint sausage looked anaemic would have preferred it browner. Another quiche and salad and finally a poached egg on toast. Everyone really happy. Coffees were great too lovely flavourService as I said really good. Happily recommend
Best coffee I have had for quite a while. Excellent cakes on offer. Friendly service and good value. highly recommend.
Told we could share afternoon tea as it was ample size, when it came out there was nowhere near enough for everyone. They provided one large teapot but only 1 cup. Told one afternoon tea platter serves 4 people (definitely doesn’t) and we couldn’t get extra cups?? When we spoke to both owners they were aggressive non apologetic and made no effort to help. Afternoon tea consisted of cheap ham sandwiches, tuna or egg mayo, Two scones (serves 4) 2 small portion of brownie (serves 4) and a couple of macaroons. I deeply regret choosing this venue for the baby shower had we gone anywhere else we would have paid the same amount and would have had the amount of food that this particular venue believes serves 4 not the regular two. Out of shear desperation and embarrassment I asked to pay additional money to cover extra food so that my friends and family didn’t leave too hungry. I could never recommend this business now given the circumstances and would most certainly never return. This should have been a real opportunity for them to shine instead I feel that no one will return here!
It can't make its mind up: is it a cafe or tea room, restaurant or diner? It does fried breakfasts and cream team, fish specials and burgers and chips. Needs to sort out its identity and specialise. The food is good (not great)
Met up with friends earlier this week for coffee and rather pleasantly surprised to see a dairy and gluten free cake on menu .We had a slice of avocado and courgette cake and wow! Very delicious. Coffee my espresso was also so tasty. Very comfortable surroundings with friendly staff. My first visit but won’t be the last!
