What Argos109 doesn't like about Mad Hatters:
My husband wanted a table by the window. One had a reserved sign on which was fine but there was one free which my husband asked for. He was promptly told that the table was reserved for people with dogs. It seems very strange to turn away custom because you don’t have a dog. We had our granddaughter though. Very bizarre. This review is based mainly on the restaurant, I rated 5 for The restaurant, well that’s a gem, really good Sunday lunch absolutely delicious food, meats were tender and a good selection. read moreNestled within a charming garden center, Merry Harriers offers a memorable dining experience amid whimsical gnome-adorned gardens. Patrons appreciate its dog-friendly atmosphere and locally sourced menu, praising the quality of dishes like the Sunday roast and Cream Tea. However, some visitors express disappointment over bland food, overpriced items, and peculiar service regarding table reservations and sugar availability. While the garden center's retail side shows signs of wear, the welcoming staff and delightful ambiance make it a worthwhile stop for those in North Devon. Overall, Merry Harriers captures the essence of a quaint retreat, despite its occasional missteps.
