This was our night out while on vacation, and dinner was incredible! Of course tried the rattlesnake cakes which were delicious, then my boyfriend got the lamb and loved it (which is rare for him, he usually doesn 't like lamb! , and I scarfeddown my pumpkin ravioli with sage, blue cheese, walnuts and pears. SO good!

We are camping and hiking in the grand Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. We've been hiking our tails off so today we are treating ourselves to a dinner at Café Diablo in Torrey, 12 miles from our Fruita campground. Started with complimentary crostini with house made strawberry jam and cream cheese. Nice indoor and outdoor mountain views. Our waitress, Ally, is friendly, good at chit chat with us and on top of the menu, which covers soups, salads, empanadas, seafood, steak, chicken, lamb, rattlesnake and more. We are having delicious free range Texas rattlesnake cakes which were D boned this afternoon (see pic) rattlers here are protected. Rattler cakes are corn breaded with peppers and very tasty served with aioli and pesto dips. Try it great! For the main affaire we are having pomegranate glazed pork ribs with garlic mashed potatoes (subed out the sweet mashed) and brussel sprouts. Meat tender and falls off the bone. Awesome presentation and slightly spicy and we like that. Excellent all the way around.

We started with strawberry basil mojitos and blue margaritas, which arrived quickly and were incredibly fresh and delicious. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, while others at our table chose stuffed tomatoes, Cuban sandwiches, and vegetarian quesadillas. Each menu item offered a creative twist on traditional dishes, like the avocado fries served instead of regular French fries, or the enchiladas presented sandwich-style between two tortillas instead of wrapped up. Our meals were beautifully plated and absolutely scrumptious. After finishing my enchiladas, I couldn’t help but exclaim, "Wow, I wish I was still eating those!" It’s true! And don’t even get me started on the avocado fries with their spicy dipping sauce – they were out of this world! My only complaint was that the lunch menu was quite limited, particularly for vegetarians. Other than that, the food and drinks were fantastic, and the owner, who seems to manage everything on his own, is extremely friendly and clearly enjoys his role in the restaurant business after spending years as a professional cowboy in the rodeo. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in the area!

Ah, I haven't enjoyed a meal like that in a long time! It was lovely to sit outside by the garden, enjoying a stunning view of the mountains, along with friendly service and fantastic food. We decided to choose dishes that were a bit different from the usual. We started with bison tartare, which was incredibly tender and melted in your mouth. Then we tried the rattlesnake cakes, which were bursting with flavor and accompanied by delicious sauces. Finally, we had the elk—it was so tender, and the sauce was absolutely to die for!

We sampled nearly everything on the menu, and nothing let us down. The rattlesnake cakes were delightful, and the melon salad was fantastic. The empanadas were incredible, especially when paired with the black beans and caramelized onions. However, the buffalo tartare was something truly exceptional—wonderful, sublime, and a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth sensation. It had a deep, earthy flavor that wasn't overpowering but rather inviting you for more. The pear ravioli was exquisite, light, smooth, and rich in flavor. The pumpkin-crusted trout was amazing, and the elk filet was cooked to perfection at medium rare—it was the Robert Downey Jr. of meats! Every flavor harmonized beautifully, never overshadowing one another, creating waves of deliciousness. Oh, and did I mention the desserts? They were truly wonderful, crafted by Chef Al in Salt Lake City. We enjoyed the best key lime cheesecake, a passion fruit dark chocolate dome, and a three-layer mousse that was incredibly smooth. Plus, they offered ice cream—vanilla bean and chai tea. As great as the food was, the service was even better. The atmosphere and overall experience were fantastic. The only thing missing was someone to roll us out to the car!
