However, despite prices having risen by at least 20% since coming in November, the food has not improved at all. The Thai duck curry is exceptionally good, but if you try anything else, be prepared to be disappointed. I have just had two very average meals here (not wanting to order the duck curry each time I come); the worst meal was the Chinese duck in pancakes. It was served on a cold plate and my plate was also cold so all in all, the duck was stone cold too. I could have just about managed to eat a cold duck but it was caked in salt. It was simply inedible. I ate what I could because I was hungry but left the lions share. I have never had such an awful Chinese duck before and I have eaten it far and wide. I had a discreet word with the owner but she decided to defend her position saying that people liked it and the reason it was cold was because the plate warmer had not yet heated to temperature. That response for me was not good enough. No offer of a refund partial refund or even a glass of wine. Instead I was told that the 2nd helping of pancakes I ordered because the duck did not arrive with adequate sundries, would not be charged for. I would not have expected to pay for the pancakes in the first place! The owner said to me upon leaving that she would try and do better next time. However, I gave her the opportunity to put things right this visit and she chose not to which is why I have decided to write this candid review. I spend many months a year here and will never be returning. Oh and if you order the menu of the day, it is only for two courses with rice and no desert, no coffee and no wine.
