He explained what the best items were on the... read more Ines was our server for our anniversary dinner. It was our first time in Portugal so we relied on his suggestions. He explained what the best items were on the menu and gave us the final choice. We had the duck with pomegranate sauce (delicious! , and Beef Wellington (we had just toured the museum and one of the Wellington forts, so it seemed appropriate . Everything was fabulous. We had the goat cheese salad split between us for a starter and it was perfect. Paired with a glass of champagne, it was a hit. We ended with the bean cake (now we see how it is award winning , with lime sorbet. Finished the meal with a healthy pour of Port. Total was just over $70 Euros. We highly recommend the Root for a nice dinner. Before 7 P.M., the bar is open for beer, wine and a snack.
