My partner and I went for an early dinner on a Sunday in O... read more I am questioning whether we just caught this restaurant on a bad night, judging by the other reviews! My partner and I went for an early dinner on a Sunday in October. The positive aspect was the pleasant atmosphere of the pub. However, we found the food to be quite basic. Although it was a step up from the other pubs in Kingsand, it wasn't anything exceptional. The prices led us to believe we would have a better dining experience than we did, which was disappointing. With only two servers working, they appeared rushed and lacked attention to detail. We ate quickly and left as soon as we could. We would rate this place as average with three stars, at least for that particular Sunday evening in October.

Their mackerel sashimi is the best I've had and I always look forward to it when visiting Kingsand. The children's menu has a great selection of homemade options. The pub is lovely and has a great atmosphere.

Food was way above your normal pub grub and will definitely be back soon. The only slight downside to the evening was watching the young waiter brush back his floppy hair every 30 seconds which is probably a trait to which he is probably not aware of but really not acceptable when serving food and drink. Apart from that we had a very memorable evening and enjoyed having some banter with some locals

Fresh seafood and more unusual dishes too. We wish we had discovered thus earlier as this was our last day.
