Was Blair Quitzon at Skin+Bones a mag?
We were here for brunch Sunday 5th. They do have a limited menu but everything our group of five had was very good. Three had the chicKen and waffles and two had the corned beef Benedict. We also had the bakery plate. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was friendly and attentive. If your in the area we would recommend eating here. View all feedback.
What Amelie Shields dislikes about Skin+Bones:
We had foodie friends in from out of town and I chose this place thinking it would be a real gem. It was underwhelming - we were greeted but the owner who was friendly and it seemed off to a great start but our server ... it felt like he just didn't want to be there. Grumpy/no personality which didn't start the night off well. The atmosphere was a bit plain - half of the restaurant was closed off so it felt very smal... View all feedback.
It's been a while since we've been back. So happy we did! This time we decided to have the chef's table menu. Basically the chef chooses dishes for you. All you have to do is let them know of any dietary restrictions. We had:• Polenta fries with aioli. These were so good that I was inspired to try to make them at home. • Homemade chips with hummus and Tahini. • Fresh green salad with sweet pea purée and sliced radishes.• Roasted zucchini with herb crusted breadcrumbs and roasted baby heirloom tomatoes.• Roasted corn with crème fraîche. We love the flavours of the crème fraîche with the fresh corn!!• Blood orange soda (this was not part of the "chef's menu"• Pork chop with spaetzle, sugar snap peas, garlic, scape pesto & cherries. The pork was cooked perfectly! Tender juicy and very flavourful. My "big eye" wanted more!!• Fudge brownie with roasted candied hazelnuts and toasted meringue. The meringue tasted like roasted marshmallows...yum!!The service was excellent! There were two servers who attended to us. Can't wait to go back and see what the chef might prepare next!
Had dinner here last night with friends and had a really good time - all four of us enjoyed our food and my chicken liver mousse was outstanding - one of the best plates I've had in a while and a unique take on a pretty standard dish.We started off with cocktails and then shared a nice bottle of sparkling left over from the sparkling league that wasn't on the menu, glad they found it for us. My stand out starter consisted of good chicken liver mousse smeared on a board and topped with deep-fried dough balls and some carrot marmalade - it was way better than it sounds on paper and everyone loved it. Others shared the charcuterie board and the octopus, both of which were good.We then shared the fried chicken special that was served with perfect crunchy potatoes and coleslaw. The others had the trout and the gnocchi. The wine was great is a bit pricey but it was great so was worth it. The place has a great buzz and we didn't think it got too loud at all even though it was packed. The drinks leagues they have sound a great idea - this week its the final of the sparking wines leagues where the four finalists go up against each other for an overall winner. We had a couple of bottles of the riesling winner, which was great. We finished by sharing the chocolate torte and the sticky toffee pudding, both very good. This is a lovely place and we'd definitely come back.

Grumpy/no personality which didn't start the night off well. The atmosphere was a bit plain - half of the restaurant was closed off so it felt very small. The food was ok- nothing special or memorable. This place has a killer location and I feel like it needs a splash of funk and service that's memorable in order for us to return.
We joined a couple of friends on Saturday night and elected to go with the chef's choice and wine pairing. no allergies or Food issues so off we went. The polenta fries started was delicious with a glass of Cava. then we had a salad of mixed grains with a white Spanish followed by crispy skin salmon and the entree of steak with potato with a tannin rich red. Everything was well prepared with the exception of the potato on our shared plate - there were a couple of the spuds that had seen better days and were old, wrinkled and almost petrified - these should have NEVER made is on the plate. The dessert wine was a little 'herb' medicinal tasting for me - the table was split on the final wine choice. the little fudge brownies with the browned meringue were like a decomposed s'more. the price was 45+35 wine per person. the place was filled and got noisy so it was hard to hear the server- we were interested in what we were eating and drinking so would have liked the server to be a little more knowledgeable on what was in the glass.
We came here tonight with three of our grown children, to celebrate this and that. This is a busy place, so make a reservation. It's not possible to walk in at prime time on a weekend, unless you want a seat at the bar. The menu is thoughtfully planned out, with a handful of appetizers, four dinner options plus a special, and some lovely and generous side vegetable orders. While the prices are not low, the value is high...with more than adequate portions, and excellently prepared meals. Great food, with attentive and professional service. The freshness of the ingredients was obvious. We had a vegetarian and a gluten-free person in our party, and everyone was well taken care of. There was a slight issue on the timing of one side order, and we appreciated that they took it off the bill (as this was the right thing to do). This is a well-run restaurant, with lovely staff and fabulous food.
