Menu

The menu of Sid's Deli from Toronto comprises about 44 different courses and drinks. On average you pay about CA$6 for a dish / drink.

Sid's Deli, a new contender in Toronto’s culinary scene, showcases a diverse menu reminiscent of traditional delis. While many patrons rave about the exceptional pastrami and corned beef, others criticize the limited vegetarian options and inconsistent service. The charming, old-fashioned decor adds to its appeal, though seating can be cramped. Customers appreciate the hearty homemade soups and creative sandwich combinations, but experiences vary widely: some enjoy prompt, friendly service, while others find the atmosphere lacking. Overall, Sid's Deli presents a blend of delightful dishes and areas for improvement, making it a must-visit with caveats.

Was Anonym at Sid's Deli a mag?
Strongly recommend this deli -- had terrific corned beef, fresh and wonderfully tasty. Service was very prompt and friendly. Great value and will definitely be back. View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Sid's Deli:
Went here for a quick bite. Service was friendly than annoying after a while (I think they were bored, only ones in there). I'm a vegetarian and the only option was egg salad - which after I ordered started the annoying service. I didn't mention I was a vegetarian and usually roll with what's on the menu w/o a fuss. Repeated, "who comes to a deli and only gets and egg salad" comments were I'm sure in fun, but got old... View all feedback.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now, and a recent Buytopia deal was the perfect excuse to finally visit.

I came to this restaurant after having a terrible experience at Bread and Bowl nearby.

We stopped in for a late lunch at this restaurant and were greeted by incredibly friendly staff. The décor of the diner is charming and has a simple, old-fashioned style.

This new deli on in the AGO neighbourhood serves a very good pastrami sand pickle sandwich but it's interior is under whelming. Better for take away.

We went to Sid's Deli because it was new and the report by Liora Ipsum on BlogTO made it sound very interesting. Unfortunately we did not search for other reviews or we would have found the Zagat review by Alan A. Vernon. His review tracked our horrible experience almost word for word. If you are thinking of going, my recommendation is, be warned. Think twice. I wanted to try a number of items on the menu so I asked for matzoh ball soup. I was told they were still making the matzoh balls. It was 11:55 am. It was before the lunchtime rush. What! No matzoh balls? So, I asked for Kishka. Same answer. No Kishka. So I settled on chopped liver. It was delivered to the table after a 10 minute wait. Just chopped liver. No bread, tomato or onion. So I asked for them. After a snarky response from the server, she showed up 10 minutes later with the accoutrements. I ordered a pastrami sandwich combo, lean and hand cut. Big mistake. I must quote Vernon's combo description as I could never write one so well: " How can cabbage in a coleslaw be mushy as overcooked noodles? What's worse is that you pay an extra $4 for two pill-cup-sized portion. But how can that be when you can buy sides on their own at $4.75 per pound. And whatever you do, skip the fries.". Our combo came without a full size pickle and our lean, hand-cut pastrami was quite fatty and all of the brine and seasonings were on top of the meat instead of soaked throughout the meat. We drank water and ate: Chopped Liver - served with bread, slice of tomato, slice of onion $8.75 and Pastrami Sandwich combo $13.75 (which was supposed to come with a full dill & coleslaw salad and fries). We have no difficulty in recommending in a most aggressive way that if you want deli be sure to avoid Sid's Deli.
