What User doesn't like about Pizzeria Via Mercanti:
Heard about this fairly new place as a good italian restaurant.Went to have pizza for lunch. Menu shows all the traditional choices. Ordered three different pizzas. On arrival they all looked great. But they all displayed a soggy wetness in the centre. Which meant no crusty bottom. Taste was average.Service was friendly and fast. Prices on the high side. But the pizza need to be great. It has the best Capriese Salad in the area, Wonderful Pizza's, Tasty Fresh Pasta Dishes and for dessert try the Gelato. Yummy! I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family the next time they are visiting Toronto.
We went this Sunday with some friends. 4 adults and 5 kids. We ordered spaghetti bolognese, seafood pasta, vegetarian pizza, ravioli, margarita pizza, caprese salad, olives, French fries and chicken scallopini. All the food were amazing! Yes the vegetables with the chicken were a bit cold but I think it's like a cold appetizer. I loved the chicken scallopini with mushrooms. It was soooooo amazing. All of us cleaned our dishes! We ordered gelato for dessert and everyone loved it!All the waiters/waitresses spoke with a heavy accent! Felt like we were actually in Italy! The only down size was the margarita pizza were soggy in the centre. Didn't stop the kids eating it!Price is a bit on the high end. Chicken scallopine was $19 margarita pizza $13 for 12 inch.Definitely will go again.

Another return visit tonight, with friends, for dinner. We had the large antipasto platter and that NEVER disappoints. Cocktails, though, could use some work. They are not up to current standards, really, just basic, and we can live with that but there is room for improvement here. Lovely wine choices and great pizzas....two of our party shared the double decker Mercanti special pizza and it was great value. Service was solid, but lots of trainees, which is fine, but patience was required tonight. Still, a great place with great food!
