amazing and picturesque brunch restaurant. eating, ambiente and personal were all wonderful. only to note that it “first come first serve” so that they have to do with long waiting times. we were told two hours today, but thanks to we found a table and sitting in the cafe side, so we could wait outside and it ended just an hour waiting. will you have been coming back? I already wanted to try one because of this restaurant. I act like I was secretly chosen to fulfill the mission possible: find the best pancakes in the GTA. Whether or not that’s true, I’m happy to report I’ve found them. I’ve been an regular customer at Simit Chai and was excited to see this is what they had next up their sleeves. The place is beautiful and bustling with patrons ordering coffee and pastries to go and lining up to put their name on the waitlist like it was the first day of Ontarios reopening. We ordered some pastries, maybe pogacas, to go while we waited for a table to be ready and they were an excellent preview of what was to come.We were seated at a small table near the door, seemingly the short order side in a less busy time. Our table was the only thing helping us portion control everything we ate since we couldn’t fit another small plate of sweets in it even if we tried.Listed on the menu as “grandmas pancakes” I don’t know who’s grandma this is but it made me forget about aunt J’s pancake mix. These were thee tastiest most fluffy stack I have ever had, which is great because it was a 45 minute wait on a cold wet Sunday. If you’re okay with everyone whipping out their phone to take photos of the gorgeous interior, you can’t miss this east side gem.
Such a lovely space!! They offer Turkish coffee and tea. I found the tea to taste basically just like a regular black tea, nothing fancy. They will use your own mug, but no discount for doing so. There is a few tables set up outside to enjoy.
Worth the hype! Quality food with a modernistic touch, covers every aspect of Turkish cuisine from breakfast to desserts.
I give this brunch place 5 stars for its breezy decor (love what they've done with the place, including the cool floor treatment) and all day breakfast menu with Turkish flair. I loved the lemony topping of their eggs Benedict. What an original addition to Leslieville's spread! And it's fun to walk around. The lane just west of Brooklyn includes a hidden park called... Hideaway Park.
