Surprisingly delicious. An unexpected delight in Parkdale. We tried the chaat papri (chick peas and crispy wafers in a chutney with yogurt sauce and the lentil soup to start, which was peppery and had quite a kick. For mains, I had the butter chicken roti: phenomenal, just as good as regular chicken rotis but the Indian flavours really set it apart I thought. My boyfriend had the saag kofta roti, which was spinach, p... View all feedback.
What Jerry O'Kon doesn't like about Mother India:
Stopped in for some take out while on a trip visiting family. We tried a few dishes and liked them all, butter chicken, saad lamb and veggie korma. Everything was good, the portions were the usual 6 take out dishes. Due to some concerns by...one of our group everything was made mild but was still tasty and she had no problems. The staff at the restaurant were very helpful, accommodating and pleasant. It's not anythin... View all feedback.
We were in Toronto a week back and when searched on google for good Indian restaurants near by, we were suggested this place. The place is ok . The washroom which is present in the basement needs renovation and cleaning. The service staff is cordial.... Review Applicable only for Vegetarians We ordered a starter Samosa chat and a main course Paneer Tikka Masala with Roti. I went out for a walk as we were told it would take 20 mins for preparation. By the time we were back, we were served with the main dish directly. We were little surprised but started with it. I got to admit, thats the best Roti and Curry we ever had recently. It was so delicious and the roti was so soft. We were then served with Samosa chat at the end. I don't know if we were full by then, we din't like the taste of it, the samosa was too soft for our liking and the chaat has more curd which is not as per our liking. So basically, we messed up our taste buds after having a delicious Roti and Curry. Overall, the place seems to prepare delicious entree's but on the starters side, it still needed some addition/improvements.
This is a simple restaurant with seating. I usually order take out as it gives my roti time to cool before I eat at home. I call in an order that is ready by the time I arrive. often share a roti as the portions...are quite generous. Great vegetarian options. Lovely flavours, attentive service and reasonably priced. Honest hard working staff who reunited me with my work phones that I left in their restaurant weeks earlier without realizing.
For the few times we get takeout, this is one that always satisfies. We get the malai kofta curry in a roti yum and enough for two to share!
I'm a regular at Mother India! I order it through Skip the dishes at least once a month. They're just amazing. They make your food on time with top notch quality. Very delicious and worth trying if you're in the neighborhood. You won't regret it...if you like Indian food.
Visited based on various reviews but will not be back. Not attractive from the outside and spartan on the inside; not an issue in itself but the food did not compensate for the appearance in any way. Service was good but table was dirty....No lunch menu was provided [available ? I ordered a lamb curry and it just looked like someone had dumped some gravy over rice. Good quantity. The food was spicy but absolutely tasteless. Any frozen indian dinner would have been far superior.
