We visited Mercado to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and we had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service matched that quality. I tried the Polvo (octopus), and it was fantastic. The rest of the group enjoyed the piri piri chicken, black pasta (I can't quite recall the name), and the Bitoque (steak). My friend and I arrived early for our reservation tonight. Since we were early, we were seated at a smaller table temporarily, which was completely understandable. As our reservation time approached, the server brought us the menus. I inquired, not in an aggressive tone (being a restaurant owner myself, I always treat staff with respect), whether we would be moved to a different table soon. She replied that she wasn’t sure and would send the owner over, even though we hadn't asked for a manager since it wasn’t a major issue. The owner came over hurriedly and inquired if there was a problem. We explained that we were simply asking about the possibility of moving tables, and that the server had mentioned she didn’t know. To our shock, he shouted (in front of other customers) that she didn’t say that. Then he claimed the servers were afraid of us and didn’t want to serve us. One of the servers looked at him in disbelief as he made this statement. I asked him why he was being so confrontational, and he told us to leave, insisting we should never arrive early for a reservation again. The entire encounter felt surreal. We hadn’t done anything wrong as customers, and the owner's behavior was rude, aggressive, and erratic. I would not recommend going there unless you enjoy being verbally mistreated.

I mentioned in our reservation that it was his birthday, so it would have been nice to receive some acknowledgment of that. Other than that, everything was great.
