The entry way of the restaurant is nice with a large drum beside the reception table. There is a small couch that would probably get filled easily if people start to arrive and wait to be seated. The general decor is also nice and modern.We ate ala carte lunch and had 2 bento boxes and Matsuda Maki. The chicken teriyaki and beef ribs were pretty good. However, the California roll is not as tasty. The Matsuda Maki with shrimp tempura was average taste. Overall, the combination of price and quality of food, I feel this resto is between average and above average. Based on this, I give Matsuda a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Since there are no half stars here, I am rounding this down to 3 because there are other competitors that can beat the price for the same amount and quality of food.

As I am a cautious eater we picked a neutral place where I would know what I was eating. Options of a-la-carte or all you can eat are available however if one person gets a-la-carte the whole table is expected to also.Fresh hot food, prompt service, and reasonably sized portions--we all left satisfied.At $25 a person and my 2-year-old grandson billed as a baby cost $4 very reasonable.

It's my first time eating at Matsuda Japanese Cuisine on Don Mills Road. Although it's an All You Can Eat (AYCE). I found the sushi to be fresh, good presentation and lots of choices. I did notice that they had a teppanyaki room also. Although it's a little pricier than other AYCE restaurants, I thought it was worth it because of the quality of the food. We were there on a Monday night and there was a constant flow of customers.Service at times was a test of patience-just getting the attention of the wait staff.

I read the reviews before I went and was very surprised at what we got! I suppose I went in with very low expectations but was very happy with the outcome. Our family of 5 went for my daughter's 21st birthday dinner. We went early because the 21 year-old wanted to go out after, and this may have added to our great experience. We made a reservation for 6pm and were seated right away. We told the waitstaff that it was our first time and we had no idea what to order or what to expect. She did a great job explaining the process (order sushi, have the teppanyaki experience, eat more sushi or teppanyaki!) All of our questions were answered. We started with sushi which we enjoyed. Then we had our teppanyaki experience. We were seated with a group of business men who were much more interested in the beer and food than the show the chef was about to perform! We had the sole attention of the chef and he did an amazing job. I feel very bad that I've forgotten his name!!! He really made our daughter feel special. He allowed her to stand behind the grill and cook with him! Our chef was humourous, talkative and very talented at throwing food around! We really had a great time. I did not find the restaurant overly loud. I sat right under the fan and did not find it annoying in any way. The food was very good for the price. I am not an expert on sushi, but I have been to Asia, so I've had excellent sushi. Matsuda served fresh, good tasting sushi with a variety of sauces and dips. I enjoyed it and so did the first-time sushi eaters in our group. It was a great evening and we will definitely return.
