The half-price manhattans during happy hour are worth the trip into the city! The atmosphere is nice and quiet, the service is fast, and the drinks... they really are great. Highly recommend. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Luma:
Cut to the chase: the truffle fries were soggy. The calamari had a cement hard batter made out of cornmeal. The fish was not fresh, which was surprising given the premium prices. The chocolate dessert was boring with segregated flavours. I don't mind spending a...lot of money dining out, however, I expect food that is worth it. If you are going to charge per plate at least make it decent, rather than have your diners... View all feedback.
I've been going to Luma the last couple of years and watched it deteriorate. The magic hour menu prices went up and the selection is mediocre unless you want sugary sweet cocktails. I miss the wasabi martini!!! We ordered truffle fries and root veg chips with french onion dip - neither were fresh and the root veg was a bag of stale potato chips. Even the dip seemed old. Not what I'd expect from a B&O restaurant. The bartenders don't seem interested. Janelle was the only one there who seemed on the ball and she's gone. The energy just isn't here any longer and you can tell the number of guests is way down. It's a great spot for a drink with magic hour or before or after a film at the TIFF theatre however they need to make changes. The experience isn't worth any more than the magic hour menu.

We've been wanting to try Luma ever since they opened and were excited to visit during Summerlicious. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't meet our expectations. We dined at Luma as a group of 4. I'm not sure if it was because of Summerlicious but we all didn't think that the service was up to par. The restaurant wasn't busy but for some reason our appetizer plates weren't being cleaned up, even though the waiter and other staff have been at the table more than once, until we pointed out that these plates (which we stacked ourselves already to the side) should be cleaned up. The food was juts o.k. The appetizers ( we ordered those as extra beside the the summerlicious menu) were very tasty but the food itself wasn't anything to brag about. The wine was good. We got recommendations from a restaurant sommelier and weren't disappointed. Overall the place is not bad and the staff is nice and pleasant but I wouldn't call this a top notch restaurant mainly due to lack of attention to detail.
Good food and fair price. Loved the truffle oil on my fried potatoes. Very close to the Princess of Whales Theatre and in the heart of Toronto.
Great modern setting, with menu to match. My only quibble was that it got quite noisy. The clientel was young and out for a good time. Interesting choice range and good quality food.
