After my second visit, I just had to make the effort and give this place a review. This is a very typical Vietnamese restaurant food wise, but they seem to have made an effort to keep it clean and inviting. Even the bathrooms were well kept and didn't smell (fairly unusual for a Vietnamese restaurant). Give this place a whirl. For under $10 per person you can have a really good meal. the portions are generous, servic... View all feedback.
What SylviaToronto doesn't like about Lac Vien Vietnamese Restaurant:
Ok, so this is not a bad place unless you are Vegetarian/Vegan...I still can 't wrap my head around a vegetable Pho that is served with either chicken or beef. What is the point? The answer I got was that 'some people don 't like to eat meat '...you think? Most of these people are vegetarian/vegan and they don ' t care for their broth to be made out of animals either. We dropped in for lunch. I ordered the stir fry egg noodles with vegetables and chicken $14.99 and my husband ordered the grilled beef and spring roll on vermicelli for $15.50. I enjoyed my meal. It was flavourful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. My husband thought that with his dish the noodles would come in a sauce but they gave a tiny bowl and it had a vinegar taste, more for a salad. He would order order something else next time. The service was quick and friendly. We did go at 2:00 pm so maybe that’s their slow time. They also have a drive thru. I found the restaurant very basic, nothing fancy. But the food was delicious.
Medium priced Vietnamese Gem in North East Scarborough. Take out is good but eating in would my recommendation especially if you are hungry.

The answer I got was that 'some people don 't like to eat meat '...you think? Most of these people are vegetarian/vegan and they don ' t care for their broth to be made out of animals either. I don 't understand why this is such a foreign concept to some restaurants. So I would not suggest choosing this place if there are vegetarians in your group. Not many other options offered...
I have been a couple of times to LacVien in Scarborough when on business. I had tried it a year back based on a friends recommendation. Back then I was not blown away so I decided to give it another shot recently. The place is very clean and bright and always pretty steady with customers. They do use fresh ingredients and the menu is quite impressive with the selection. They give you a good serving size and you can't go wrong with the prices. I have tried two separate dishes and overall its pretty good but nothing spectacular. The dishes could use a little more flavour but it is still enjoyable.
This restaurant is very nice. Staff are friendly The seafood soup is tasty and filling. Lots of noodles and vegetables The fried shrimp I would not recommend. They were soggy and greasy The beef/ noodle dish was filling and lots of flavour This is a family type place. Not really fine dining, but more like a quick place to eat with good prices
