I'm not in my home city of Toronto much these days, and I miss it - a lot. One thing thing I can undoubtedly say gives me a homesick pang anytime it crosses my mind, it Gandhi roti on Queen. Malai kofta is a hard thing to get right for any chef outside of India- Gandhi nails it. I also recommend the Sag Paneer for vegetarians. The roti itself is made nearly from scratch, while you wait and doesn't shy away from spice... View all feedback.
What Margitta Schäfer doesn't like about Gandhi Cuisine:
Pretty good indian roti. Food is a bit expensive for lunch, however it is very filling and well worth your moneys worth. The wait for getting your food is a bit long. View all feedback.
I had passed by Gandhi several times but never thought to visit.
I was craving Indian food and I yelped this place and it has great reviews so I decided to try it out.
I've been going here for years and still stop in when I'm in the area. I have always been a fan of Caribbean Rotis, which are typically curry spiced. At Ghandi's however, even though it's East Indian, they shy away from curry which is odd but I love them all the same. Their butter chicken is absolute perfection in their handmade rotis, made right before your eyes in a press as if they were making pasta. Spice choices are mild, medium and hot- I always get hot for the good sweats, but I'm sure most people would feel safe with mild. It has a little kick too! Highly recommended. Be aware they're not open weekends.

Big portions, reasonable prices and very delicious rotis. Beware of the spice level - medium is really quite spicy and I can usually handle very spicy dishes. I can't imagine what hot would be like. I prefer their Chicken Jalfrizi and their vegetarian options especially their Cauliflower and Potato rotis. If you are sharing, I recommend getting some medium and several mild ones so you can mix it up and not keel over with the spiciness. If it is not busy, it only takes about 10 minutes for your order to be ready. You can also call ahead for pickup. I highly recommend this place.
