one of my favorite places to grab a pint in kensington. the music is always on the point (first time I heard a boards of Canada track, followed by massive attack in a bar) and the list is varied and accessible. the decor is fun and the barkeeper friendly. only cash, so come prepared (although there is a cash machine in the cellar) highly recommended! What Santos P doesn't like about Embassy:
Context: i have Diamond for life status with Hilton, which means I've stayed at Hilton properties often. The good: Good (almost great) front desk staff. Housekeeping:! Superb! We requested extra coffee packets! They were delivered quickly. Why the 3 rating!?! 1. We requested late checkout. My wife is in a wheelchair. Not only was this denied. She used the words we can stay until the kick us out. 2. Air conditioner di... View all feedback.
Where to even start. We are frequent flyers at Embassy hotels and they are usually oretty good (which is why we go back). This one is yhe sole exception. This place was just a huge disappointment. Startint with the front desk there was never ebough staff. I never saw more than one person at the desk and always at l4ast 5 people waiting in line. Only 4 of the 9 lights in the elevator worked. What does that have to do with me you might ask? If thats how they present their front to guests imagine yhe rooms. And boy did they not surprise you there. There was mold growing in the shower in multiple locations, multiple lights in the room did not work, the hotel lost power on Saturday, the staff was extremely unprofessional gossiping in loud voices their disapproval of a supposedly recently fired coworker. To be honest we couldn't wait to leave but given that we had paid with points and it was USF graduation weekend our choices were limited.
This is definitely a 2 1/2 star hotel. I feel like Embassy suites has gone a little downhill. Breakfast was OK. I remember as a kid going to Embassy suites and having a huge buffet with so many options. Here you just have eggs soft potatoes, and pancakes. There is an omelette area and they do serve bacon there but that's about it. Also, the pool is not heated so cold can't use it and there's no hot tub. a few roaches run around which is normal for Florida, but just didn't have the 4-5 star vibe.
Very nice hotel located down the street from Busch Gardens. Staff is very nice and helpful. Hotel provides shuttle that will take you to the park and pick you up when you call. The hotel is located on one of the main drags with lots of restaurants and shops along the way. The shuttle will also take you to other places within a three mile radius, which was great when we went out to eat and didn't need to walk to the restaurant. Hotel also provides breakfast in the morning. They have a nice selection of both hot and cold options. There's also a create your own omelet station. The rooms are like mini apartments. Very nice and spacious. When we go back to tampa we will definitely be staying here again.
I came here for a work trip and this was the hotel recommended to us in the area. It's next to the USF campus, and therefore, there's not much within walking distance to you. There is a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within 3 miles from the hotel, but it doesn't start until after 9am. The place looks like any other embassy suites with the rooms along the perimeter of the building and the lobby inside the square. There was not much to note of the lobby . There's free breakfast with muffins, yogurt, and made to order omelets, which I did not take advantage of. Upon checkin, there is also drink tickets for the happy hour you get 2 drinks per night. Happy hour is between 6 7:30 , but every night had the same snacks for happy hour, which was goldfish crackers, chips, peanut and m&m mix, veggie platter, and cheese platter. They really need to mix it up some, please! The drink list was pretty much anything you wanted mixed, and then one cabernet sauvignon and one chardonnay for wines. There was probably also beer but I didn't try any of those or the mixed drinks, just the wine. There is also a restaurant inside but none of the menu items seemed to stand out to me, so I ended up not eating there but getting door dash. The rooms were clean and the typical room at the embassy suites, which was the living room and then the bedroom. There is a tv in each room, and also a working desk in the living room. Bathroom was a standing shower. I was diamond member and inquired about any upgraded rooms but they said they didn't have any. All in all, the hotel was clean and I would stay here again.
This hotel needs a bit of TLC. It shows wear in public areas like the lobby, elevators, and bar area. The room is no better. It isn't the cleanest, with hair in the corner of the bathroom and toothpaste splatter behind the sink. Everything just looks a little beat up. We were also woken up by the fire alarm going off twice in the morning. I'm not sure if it was malfunctioning, but it didn't even completely go off. Very strange. It was overpriced at over $200 a night for a weeknight for such a deteriorating hotel. On a positive note, the front desk staff were nice and the bartender was awesome! The location can't be beat for any USF or Yuengling Center stays.
