Despite varying opinions on the food quality, the consensus seems to be that Meet Dumplings is worth a visit for its affordable prices and tasty dumplings, with some reviewers even declaring it as their favorite spot for oriental cuisine. Was Karan S at Dumpling Queen a mag?
This is a great little no frills family run place on Yonge. I had a take away as an early dinner. The food was fresh and delicious (try the pan friend mixed dumplings! and the prices very cheap. The young lady serving on reception was very chatty, friendly and welcoming. View all feedback.
What PeterBruceG dislikes about Dumpling Queen:
The name on the front of the store is now meet dumplings. Found the dumplings a little bit salty but enjoyed them nonetheless. The fish dumplings boiled were good. The fried rice was just average. The man post tofu was very spicy View all feedback.
I have been going to this place on a regular base for over two years.
People might know "Meet Dumplings" as Dumpling QueenWhat I thought was a rebrand, I can confidently say that the owner have changed.
I've probably stepped foot into Dumpling Queen just two times over the 10 years I've lived close by.
Dropped in after a show at the Panasonic theatre, this place doesn't look like much but its well worth it. Dumplings are very good, and the rest of the food was surprisingly good as well. Decor, well, none to speak of... but it reminds me a lot of similar little places I've eaten at in China, Hong Kong and around Asia. If they decorated they would feel the need to charge more, and who needs that? The nice thing, especially next to the theatre, is this is the kind of place you can just drop in, grab a quick plate of dumplings, with no big expectations about you ordering a major meal. If you want a snack before the show this is a great option. I do agree with one of the other reviewers that Dumpling King in Chinatown makes a better dumpling, but the difference isn't so great that's its worth going out of your way if you are in the area already especially if you are looking to grab a bite before or after a show next door!
Mostly writing this so if we ever end up back in Toronto we can remember where we found some awesome dumplings and green onion pancake. The place was great, only problem was that it was cash only.
