Canoe offers a mixed dining experience, with some diners impressed by the stunning interior, exceptional service, and innovative tasting menu. However, others were disappointed by the lackluster main courses, unchanging dessert menu, and subpar cocktails. Consistency seems to be an issue, as some diners had varying experiences upon returning. While the location and ambiance are top-notch, the food quality and service can be hit or miss, making Canoe a risky choice for those seeking a truly exceptional dining experience.

I stopped by for lunch the other day and it was an average experience. Canoe is listed in the Michelin guide. There is parking available in paid garages in the area...

Try bison tartare if you have never had tartare before! Had lamb for mains

The pork cheek and beef fillet were exquisite. The service was flawless.

Came here today for anniversary celebration with my partner. From the start, the hosts were just meh. The service overall was nice, but I didn't feel any warmth or honestly anything that special. There were moments we felt like service was a bit slow and we were waiting to get attention to take a photo at the end for dessert. I don't know what our server's name was though since it wasn't mentioned. I did appreciate her mentioning our anniversary and congratulating us at the beginning and end (even if it's generic). We were lucky we got a table with a nice view so the atmosphere was great. Everything in general was alright, but nothing to write home about. Honestly, the food was mid and portions are on the smaller side. I ordered 2 drinks and both were just alright. For starters, we got the asparagus and scallops. The scallop dish with pickled shiitake mushrooms was probably the standout of everything today. For mains, we had the pork duo and stuffed lamb saddle. Both were cooked to perfection, but unfortunately, the crispy skin of the pork belly was too salty. I had a little piece to try and it ruined my palate. The daikon radish was also both inconsistent (one sweet and one with a harder texture). The saltiness overwhelmed the whole dish. As for the lamb saddle, I did enjoy it. Nothing really stood out. I'm not sure if it was because I tried the pork belly skin, but something tasted salty. For dessert, the white chocolate cheesecake was good and the tartness from the sorbet complimented it. Overall, it was just an alright experience. View was great, service was okay, and food was mid. Not sure if I would go back with so many other options in Toronto at this price point. Don’t know why this place is rated so highly. We go to restaurants often and have gone to restaurants around the world so I know what great food is. This was not it. Great views of skyline, worth the experience but not for that price. I like to be able to taste the flavours, food was bland and if I hadn’t been told what was in the dish, I would nt have known.I am a dessert person but even the desserts were mediocre, though the presentation was good. Parking is free but difficult to find. Overall, it’s a one time go for the experience, I returned home hungry and had to make myself a sandwich. Didn’t like the food, or the limited selection. But the ambience is fantastic, as is the view of the skyline, which one can get by going there only for drinks. Pricey for what it offers, especially when it was so pub like noisy.
