California Sandwiches - Toronto

We hadn't visited this restaurant for a while. It had always been a favorite indulgence of ours, but not this time. The meat was chewy and the breading fell off with each bite. The bun was also cold. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

I order a mini chicken sandwich with tomato sauce and cheese. Sounds like a basic sandwich but it was very tasty and filling enough. I would order this sandwich again.

Table hadn't been cleaned off. After unwrapping the vegetarian sandwich, it was so soggy, it was almost impossible to pick up and eat by hand. I had to get a fork to get at the veggies. The sandwich bun was soaking wet from the cooked veggies. The hard wall, floor and ceiling surfaces amplified the noise from people talking and the piped in music. Went home hungry.

The sandwiches at this location are a far cry from the originals at the Claremont location. The meat is tough and lacks flavor. My overall experience was disappointing. This has occurred multiple times, not just once. I will now make the extra effort to travel to Claremont for the "best veal sandwich."

Place needs some serious cleaning. Service was fast. Sandwiches were ok for the price. But excessively moist and chewy meat. Ok but that's all.
