Bread and Butter offers a mixed dining experience with praise for a great Americano but disappointment with the coffee and serving sizes. Customers rave about the authentic schnitzel sandwiches and Eastern European specialties, like goulash soup. The restaurant's cabbage rolls and desserts received high praise and the cozy atmosphere and friendly service were highlighted. The schnitzel, Eggs Benedict, and veggie omelette were standout dishes. Overall, a cozy spot with great European-style dishes, even if the coffee and service have some room for improvement. The restaurant's dedication to offering quality fare at reasonable prices is certainly worth a visit.

Was Chris Shennette at Bread & Butter a mag?
I ordered the Deluxe Schnitzel sandwich and Beef Goulash todayThe sandwich was excellent (I really liked the addition of eggs and bacon), but the soup really took the crown. I will definitely be ordering again, and I liked it so much that I want to try making something similar at home myself over the winter!I will certainly make the trip up to this restaurant in the future alsoThank youChris View all feedback.
What Nancy Huynh dislikes about Bread & Butter:
If you want a microwaved schnitzel that’s been sitting out without temp control, made by a woman wearing no gloves and touches everything and then the food she prepares for you this place is for you. Not to mention tables sat out with dirty dishes on them for a while. Would give zero stars if possible. View all feedback.
My husband and I popped in for lunch one day when out for a walk. We both chose sandwiches from the specials board - meatloaf for me and chicken for him. Both were enormous, filled with roasted vegetables and salad and nice sauces. Huge fresh salad on the side too. We really enjoyed it. Nice, but very strong, coffee served. Was safe to say we didn't need a big dinner that evening but we're very tempted by the German cakes in the counter - next time!
This place offers up some authentic schnitzel sandwiches that are trustworthy and savory. They come with a great piece of bread, lettuce, and tomato. The service is very homey and the people who run the place seem like nice, hard working, schnitzel technicians.
I hadn't been here recently, but today I stopped for a light lunch. I had a chicken schnitzel sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. For $7.35, HST included, it's a steal! This is a comfortable place that serves Central European food. Recommended!
Great food and service! A must go restaurant! Lovely patio too : favourite pear juice in the city.
