While some diners were disappointed with the food quality, particularly the garbanzo chickpea burger and chicken fingers, others enjoyed healthier options like the Red Quinoa Salad Bowl and Grilled Salmon Sandwich. The service was consistently praised, with servers being attentive but not rushed. The outdoor patio was a highlight for many, providing a lovely atmosphere for dining. Overall, the restaurant has potential but may need to work on improving certain menu items and beer choices. It's a great spot to enjoy a leisurely meal, particularly on a warm summer day.
Small restaurant without pretention but the dishes are good and well presented and the site is pleasant and very quiet
Good spot for catching up with friends. Almost an Annex tradition. I cannot wait for summer to come so that we might enjoy the patio. Cozy in the winter months.
Great place for after work drinks! We went here as a class after a course at OISE- they were super accommodating of us (we had a reservation- but it wasn't too busy so could have swung by unannounced.) They kept us with drinks and later I had dinner- where the chef adjusted a cream sauce on the pasta to be dairy free- it was amazing! Good location- off the main strip so it had a nice vibe.
This place is no bargain, but the neighbourhood is also not a place where you expect a bargain either. Me and a friend stopped by here for grab some drinks and a sweet snack. Snack wise I can say that the desserts are fine. Drink wise, well they're drinks, how much can you screw up drinks (not mixed drinks?) So it's hard to judge the food or anything like that because frankly we didn't really experience any of that. What did work at this place was the location and service. It's slightly off the beaten path, but not far away from anything. That means you can step out of the hustle of downtown Toronto, without going too far out of your way. The service was spectacular. We had just finished a busy day at work, and we just needed a place to sit and chill. The waitress was attentive, and never pressured us to leave or get anything other than our drinks and snacks. We stayed for hours to relax and talk out our work from that day, with zero interruptions. It was a pleasant afternoon that lead into the evening.
We've had dinner twice this week at the Bedford Academy, and both times were very pleasant. It's lovely to be able to sit outside, under the shade of an umbrella, with flowers and trees nearby. The outdoor setting is delightful. The tables are not too close to each other, so it's possible to have a conversation without being overheard.I had the Red Quinoa Salad Bowl on our first visit. Containing kale, avocado, chickpeas, and beets, it was very healthy but also delicious. I enjoyed a serving of the restaurant's addictive sweet potato fries along with the salad. On my second visit, I chose the Grilled Salmon Sandwich. For just $1 more, I was able to include sweet potato fries again. The salmon comes as a fillet, and the sandwich was rounded out with lettuce and tomatoes. I ate every bit, and enjoyed it all. Each evening I had a glass of Argentinian white wine. It was fine, but nothing special. The service was excellent--our server was always available when we needed her, but did not try to rush us.I strongly recommend the Bedford Academy, and hope to return to it on future visits to Toronto. Go there on a warm summer day and enjoy sitting on the patio!
