Was Chris Johns at Bake Code a mag?

Alright. I want to start off by saying that because this place has such a large menu, the quality of the food can vary. So, my rating is based on the items that were hits for me, not the misses. My favorites were the coffee bun, almond croissant, and cake rolls (all shown in the photos). However, we did not enjoy the custard bun as it had a strange texture and flavor, like others have mentioned. The viet coffee and P... View all feedback.

What Irene Lee dislikes about Bake Code:

I ordered 2 bubble teas and a milk custard bun through Doordash. I’m not sure what the milk custard bun is normally supposed to taste like but the bread is very dry and the custard filling is extremely powdery. It’s not exactly what I was expecting since I really liked the croissants with custard in the past so I’m just disappointed. Would not recommend paying $6 for this and I won’t be finishing it. I purchased 5 mousse cakes, but the staff only gave me 4. The customer service was really poor and frustrating, I will never come back and purchase any food again!

She often ignores customers waiting in line without acknowledging them or letting them know that she will be with them shortly. When customers try to place their orders, she simply responds with a curt "one second" without any greeting or appreciation until the end of the transaction. This behavior makes me and other customers uncomfortable. I find her poor attitude towards customers, including myself, very off-putting. Seeing her at the front of the restaurant, as I did today on August 2nd at 3pm, makes me want to walk away and not return. If her attitude does not improve, I may not choose to dine at this restaurant again.

We ordered one variety of viral croissant, it tasted great. We tried few other cakes which are good too.

The customer service at the Bake Code location on 4910 Yonge St is terrible. The staff is rude and disrespectful towards people of color. As a long-time customer who enjoys their baked goods and drinks, I am disappointed by the disinterested behavior I have encountered at this specific location. My simple requests for extra napkins or sugar syrup in my coffee have been met with hostility, as if I am inconveniencing the staff. Even when inquiring about end of day specials, I was met with eye rolls and a condescending tone of voice. This poor customer service experience has left me feeling undervalued. I hope that the management at Bake Code takes this feedback seriously and improves the service standards at this location.

We stopped to get cake for a day party. The cakes are very good feel not very sweet and works well. They have a lot of not readily available cake flavors and are worth trying. The other baked goods are also... very good and it is worth checking.

First, their croissants and cakes are very expensive. I ordered 2 croissants from here - the mushroom truffle filling was decent [taste like a good mushroom soup filling] but the outer croissant was simply OK. Pretty fat! The salted egg croissant was a miss for...I- although this could be just a personal choice. Hopefully, they focus more on the croissant and may offer more salty versions. You can hope!

It is expensive here (approx. $5 per croissant), but it is worth an occasional splurge. The texture of the croissants is wonderful. The flavors are unique, such as Matcha and salted egg (although this was not my favorite). The best was the almond croissant with a sweet... filling in the middle. So delicious!

Service is great if it is not busy, I noticed when there is a line it is really slow Other than the croissants are incredible, they are light and fluffy (I love Matcha) filled with light Matcha cream And the coffee is really nice that I come here whenever I see my family and will definitely go back!

I love Bake code. They bake on site the most beautiful and fresh desserts. Most have an Asian spin with glorious buttery French baking. I love the creativity but unlike many places they do not let weird or Instagramable drive what they do. Their baking...is pretty and it is instagramable but it is first and foremost excellent. Their drinks are also creative and tasty. Do go and have a visit. Please follow @joannasable on instagram for more food and travel fun.
