Everyone in Toronto needs to eat pho here the taste was unreal. Cute inside but you go for the food not the decor. Really big prawns and you will not leave hungry. View all feedback.
What Ryleigh Harris doesn't like about Anh Dao Restaurant:
I may not have been lucky but I was very disappointed by this little restaurant. First there is very cold because the door doesn't close well, so either the server had to close it every time or the customers! And I can tell you that in March toronto, it's not hot. Then I ordered a bun with beef and nems. The noodles arrived cold, bathing more or less in the salad. Beef not bad but without more and the nems had nothin... View all feedback.
Clearly a popular and authentic Vietnamese restaurant. My family and I found this place as we were wandering in Chinatown on a hot Friday night. My first impression was not great as I was expecting an air-conditioned space. However the menu was extensive and we noticed many orders of delicious-looking banh xeo coming out of the kitchen. My Vietnamese husband (and the rest of the family!! was very impressed by the banh xeo but less so by the pho. The staff was super efficient and friendly but very busy so we had to ask for more water as it was extremely hot in there. Also it is well marked that they only take cash. We would definitely come back, but in cooler weather!!
Except for pho I had never tried Vietnamese food before. My friend and I decided to try Anh-Dao in China Town. We looked through the menu and then started to order. We then admitted to the waitress that we really did not know that to order and what would she recommend? She took us in hand and explained what to order and it was obvious that she told all the other staff we were new to their cuisine. They came to the table and delivered the food and explained in detail what each thing was on the platters and how to assemble everything. They came back to our table several times to check how we liked the food and in our many interactions we found out all their meats, sauces are marinated and created in house. I truly enjoyed the menu and the staff/owners were so warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to venture into home made and good quality food. I will say I was really surprised at how busy this restaurant was on a Monday. It was a good sign and the pricing really was quite reasonable. Thank you for a wonderful experience Anh-Dao.
I did a web search for Asian restaurants near U of T and Anh Dao came up. My family was eager for some Vietnamese comfort food after being outdoors on a cold Saturday so we decided to give it a try. This restaurant is located on Spadina Ave between College and Cecil Sts. We did not have a hard time locating it, the hanging yellow sign helped. We were acknowledged as soon as we entered the door. We were pointed to a vacant 4-seater table and promptly handed menus, an order form and a pen. We were still taking off our jackets when the server came back with glasses of iced water. We perused the menu, wrote our choices on the order form and then gave it back to the server. Our food arrived at the table within a reasonable 12 min wait: A1 cha gio spring rolls medium 4pcs, $9.25) – we’ve had better R1 grilled pork chops $8.75) – tasted okay, portion was good, but no complimentary soup N2 rare beef pho $8.25) and N3 rare beef well done beef brisket pho $8.25) – probably a size small at other restaurants, tasted okay, meat-to-noodle ratio was not bad, garnish plate contained obviously fresh ingredients Anh Dao is a small mom-and-pop business and only accepts cash payment. The restaurant is a bit dated and seats about 40. Separate male and female single-user washrooms are located downstairs. The very spartan female washroom had running water and soap, but no mirror above the tiny sink. In a nutshell, Anh Dao served a decent meal. Price was affordable, service was quick, portions were good, food was okay.
Went there for lunch, although the food was really tasty and priced well, when we walked in it wasn't clear what the place was all about. The server gave us a table, menus and an empty bill. Never seen a place where we fill it in ourselves! No big deal anyways, it just wasn't very clear. Fast service, but note that it only took cash, randomly I had some on me, which is not normally the case!
On the recommendation of a young Vietnamese person, we tried out Anh Dao for lunch. It is a small, unassuming family-run restaurant in Chinatown. We all loved our lunch—the Imperial rolls were very tasty and the barbecue pork vermicelli was amazing. We will definitely go back!
