Feedback
The food and service were both excellent, although it was a bit pricey. It's a fantastic spot for breakfast!
I recently had the best Western omelette I've enjoyed in quite some time. After visiting downtown on a Saturday morning, we drove past The Donlands Diner (formerly known as Donlands Restaurant) and found it looked inviting enough to warrant a stop. The diner has a delightful 1950s ambiance, complete with a lunch counter, cozy booths, a classic black and white checkered floor, red leatherette chairs, and plenty of chrome details. We were lucky to snag an open booth at the back. My companion opted for the classic BLT sandwich, which came served on a large plate alongside fries. The bacon was crispy and perfectly folded, giving the sandwich a hefty appearance. She mentioned she would have liked less lettuce and more tomato, but overall, it was still a satisfying sandwich. The coleslaw served on the side, though, had a bit too much vinegar for her taste. On the upside, the fries were well-prepared, boasting a nice crispiness on the outside. As for my omelette, what made it exceptionally good were the fresh ingredients. The “classic” Western version includes ham, onions, and green pepper, and too often, diners skimp on the green pepper. However, this diner generously included both red and green peppers, which were not overcooked and retained a pleasant crunch. Plus, there was cheddar cheese! I believe cheddar is a fantastic enhancement to a Western omelette. Service was fairly quick and efficient, making for an enjoyable dining experience.
