Delightful location with a cool vibe yet also sofisticated. The food was of course delicious and ethically sourced which is worth a trip alone. Top tip bring some layers especially if dining in the evening as it quite shaded and cool. There are heaters but you might not be near one. View all feedback.
What Crystal Murray doesn't like about Inn of the Seventh Ray:
Terrible experience with food and service. Not sure where to start. Place wasn’t even busy when I arrived for a 6pm seating. 10 minutes after sitting down two runners in the span of 15 min come to our table with entrees. We hadn’t even ordered yet… worst part is their are numbers on the table! The brutal part… Ordered a steak well done. Came out ****. Informed waiter, she apologized. 10 min later, I received the same... View all feedback.
I absolutely love this restaurant, for many reasons. The atmosphere and ambiance is by far one of the best in Los Angeles. The bookstore is amazing. I have had lunch here for many years, and for the last two years the service has been rather poor, and consistently. Because I love the Inn so much I have been so reluctant to write this review, but I feel at this point I have to share my experience. Typically when we sit down it can take 10 to 15 minutes for a server to greet us, once we have ordered drinks, they typically come pretty fast, but then it can take up to an hour for our food to arrive, and the server never returns to fill our water or coffee, nor do they check in to see if our food is up to par, and then they never return with a check. I have on every occasion had to search for the server to pay. I am actually considering not returning which I really don’t want to do, but the service just isn’t worth it..

My friend and I went there for a brunch to also check out the place as a potential venue for my friend’s wedding. We ordered Belgian waffle and brown rice breakfast bowl. Food for us is 3.5 stars, nothing surprising. The flavor and texture of the fruit (I think it was mango) on the waffle didn’t really go that well with the waffle and syrup. Breakfast bowl was fulfilling. Service was amazing and attentive though. We had never tried Jun before and the staff offered a full cup for us to try! Their jun was great and would recommend trying. The restaurant is, like mentioned other reviews, beautiful. It’s surrounded by nature and a great place for any special occasion where family and friends can gather and enjoy great time together.

Informed waiter, she apologized. 10 min later, I received the same steak (I had one bite) and it was burnt to a crisp. Not well done but burnt!!!!! If I ate at Applebees, they would have replaced the steak altogether. I didn’t think anything of the mistake of a **** steak, so didn’t capture a photo. But here’s a photo of the BURNT steak I received. The atmosphere was pleasant.
Loved this place! The atmosphere is so serene and the food was delicious. The drive from LA was beautiful. It’s perfect if you go for sunset. There’s a cute spiritual feeling shop next door that sells crystals, tarot cards, incense, you name it.. they got it
