A seperate fish and chip shop from the main pub, right on the water. We had seats in a hut, overlooking the jetty. We had the seafood platter and balsamic oysters, which was delightful. A sand pit for the kids was next to the hut, as well as a large grassy area for families to kick a ball around. The fish and chippery had beach balls for sale too. An acoustic guitarist provided music on the stage in the middle of the... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Oyster Shed Fish & Chip Shop:
I do love The Sandstone Point Hotel but the fish and chips down at The Oyster Shed are so over priced and we've been a few times now with such disappointment - the fish tasted like chemical and it was a few of us who all said the same but the staff didn't have any recourse and didn't seem to be a manager in site to let them know that the food was yuk - we didn't each it and left very disappointed - definitely can't r... This was our third visit in about 2 months, and unfortunately, it will be our last. The previous experiences with the food and wait times were not great, but we decided to give it another chance today. However, we were disappointed once again. The Sandstone Point Hotel has stopped serving bar food, so we ordered drinks and my husband went to the OS to order fish (snapper), calamari, and chips. After waiting for 45 minutes, our order still had not arrived, even though it didn't seem very busy. After 50 minutes, my husband inquired about our order, and the staff mentioned that it was being plated but there was a lack of communication between the counter staff and cooks. When our food finally arrived after an hour of waiting, I was shocked. The "snapper" looked like a frozen fillet with jelly-like consistency and grey color. It was greasy and flavorless, so I couldn't finish it. The chips were overcooked, cold, and hard. My husband thought the calamari was okay but wouldn't order it again. We left most of the meal for the local wildlife. It's a pity because the location and view are beautiful, but until the food quality improves at the OS or the bar menu returns at the hotel, we won't be returning.
We had an amazing experience at Sandstone Point Hotel that left us very impressed. We initially thought the Oyster Shed was part of the hotel, where we ordered our delicious food. We quickly ordered from an electronic menu and received our meals in a timely manner. The barramundi and chips, burgers and chips, and sauces were all excellent. The burger was especially good, though the barramundi may have been slightly overcooked. The portion sizes were generous, with our friends even taking leftovers home for their dog. Overall, we were impressed with the service and food at The Oyster Bar and will definitely be returning in the future.
Thought being called oyster shed it would be known for nice oysters. Wrong !!! Had Mornay Kilpatrick. Smallest oysters I have ever had, cold and sauces were runny and packed taste. Chips were just macdonalds fries. Huge disappointment. Will not be returning
Take a stroll down the grassy bank below the Sandstone Point Hotel and sit by the pier, enjoy a beer and of course, some fresh oysters. There is more to choose from on the menu, so give the Oyster Shed a go!
Stopped here while visiting the area. Firstly it was difficult to find the driveway to enter this fish and chip shop. Once parked we went in. At first sight this place looks pretty cool like an old beach shack. When ordering the food the service was slow. After placing our order we sat and waited for the buzzer to buzz and had to collect the food. No table service for the price is not acceptable. Got the food and it was just average. The soft shell crab burger was not nice at all, the fish was not seasoned and the oyster were nothing to brag about considering this place is called “The oyster shed”. The views were amazing and that’s the only positive.
