Josephine's Soul Food - Toledo

Very good food. Had the smothered pork chops with fried okra and yams. The plus side the okra was cooked perfectly and the yams almost as good as my momma's! Now the chops had some down sides but I was informed before I purchased. The chops are baked not fried which though not as good still tasted great the problem was the gravy, not sure if it broke or that's how it was supposed to be but for me it was too watery. And a choice between cornbread and biscuits, I choose the latter soft and delicious by the way. We were even given samples of Mac n cheese, potato salad and greens I even liked. This is one of Toledo's best been in the same location for over 12 years named after the owners grandmother who's picture is on the wall.

This place might be my new go to place! My hubby, son and I stop here for dinner! And honestly everything was wonderful! It was my first time here, the guy whom help me (I didn't get his name) but he was so wonderful !! Helped me look over the menu was very patient with me! Customer service top 10! So warm and welcoming! Now the food! The food was fantastic! I am definitely in love! Everything was a 10/10! If you're unsure I definitely recommend!! You won't be disappointed!!

I got the fried chicken, Mac n Cheese, Fried Okra Cornbread! The food was on point! I ate my fried okra on the way home! All of the seasoning was on point! The service is as good as the food! This is a hidden gem! I’ll definitely be going back!Food: 5/5

My wife and I were visiting from NY, and found this place on Google. I highly recommend Josephine place. We both had the fried whitting dinner with Mac and cheese and greens. Everything was cooked to perfection!The customer service was stellar. Definitely worth the money and will stop by again!

Our first time here,Food was delicious. I had ox tails w/rice, greens, yams. My husband had baked chicken w/dressing an Mac cheese, potato salad, peach cobbler. Everything was Seasoned just right. Only critique I will give is tone back on the sugar in the yams,and cobbler, and cook ur rice a little longer,add gravy over the baked chicken over all the food was delicious and we will come back again. This is what you call soul food. We're from Detroit
