Absolutely a wonderful experience in Kanesaka. Our party of 3 went for the 30,000 Yen Grandmakase course and it was just amazing. Very posh clients this night with a friendly couple of Mexico sitting right and a challenging pair to the left. Two hours! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sushi Kanesaka:
I really felt that the foreign customers were not treated as well as the Japanese. I was watching as each piece was being served to each patron and the foreigners were consistently served inferior pieces. If we were served the same, the Japanese got an extra add on like uni or Ikura. Some kind of extra twist that differentiated the piece. Even the portion size was different. I found this place so highly recommended o... View all feedback.
I must say that in my experience DIESES PLACE NOT DISCRIMINATE!!! There are many people who say they don't let foreigners in and they say that the restaurant is full... it's true that is full! I went there without reservation and they told me the same. I learned the lesson and called to book... I have a place for the next month!! Secondly, it is not true that if you are a foreigner, you must call through your hotel Concierge. The problem is that they do not speak English, so it is advisable to ask the concierge for you to book if you do not speak Japanese, but if you do then you will certainly CAN BOOK BY YOURSELF (that is what I did even tho at that time my Japanese was faaar of being good). On Sunday at noon they have cheap options for 5,000yen, 10,000 yen and 15,000 yen I believe (I had the 10,000 option). It is true that did not end with a full stomach, but the experience was amazing!!! The cook was very nice and the service was spectacular. The sushi is one of the best I've tried for a very reasonable price compared to other 1 Michelin Star (or more) sushi restaurant.
Located in the basement in Ginza. Needed the hotel to make the reservation for us. Small restaurant. The price cheaper than the Singapore branch and quality of course is there. The few times I’ve been here, there weren’t many local Japanese, majority were foreigners (Hong Kong and Singapore).
Although they require to make the reservation thru the hotel, it is worth to come. They treated the food like an art piece, the rice temperature the vinegar they added the fish temperature, and their is no complaint for the sushi. They also using a unique sauce for each dishes, I still can remember the taste of the sushi sashimi when I looked at the picture. However, it was a bit disappointed when it came to the end, they just passed me the bill without any notice.
Nice lunch course for 5000 yen. 10 pieces of nigiri. Seems like a better deal than the 10,000 yen course which only had a few more pieces. Chef spoke English. Flounder, slightly chewy Red snapper, melts in your mouth Jack fish, melts in your mouth Maguro (bluefin tuna) Toro Squid, a bit rubbery and chewy Herring, small sardine, silver scales, a bit salty, sour, fishy Mackerel, a bit sour, fishy Bonito, melts in your mouth Sea eel Restaurant is in the basement. Walk down the stairs right at the entrance.
Excellent sushi, but pricy. 130,000 yen for two people. The experience was stressful.
