I was visiting Toni`s place often. Last time I was shocked when my food did not come as ordered. I asked the nice Lady if there may be a confusion, but she insisted on convincing me that everything is ok. Anyways, I am not used to this low standard at Toni`s so I wont be going there anymore.
We visited for a Saturday lunch. A modest number of locals and a friendly welcome. A couple of decent starters and a Pizza large enough to defeat me!
I revisited Da Toni after 6 years out of Timisoara. It is like a good wine, it just gets better with age. Mr.Toni is greeting you at the door like the perfect host in an italian home. The joie de vivre comes with a bowl of pasta arrabiata, homemade arrancini and italian songs sung by the host.If you want a delicious homemade meal or the best pizza in Timisoara, this is the place to be. Limoncello? Espresso Mario? Tiramissu? The list is long and the night is too short. Fortunately I will come here next week with my whole family. Da Toni is the best place to celebrate birthdays and have a good time.Welcome to Timisoara.
Da Toni is a place on the local pizza market which is won its place and ranking during many years. The owner is welcoming the guests today as he was doing it ten or more years ago. I came back here after a very long absence, now with kids. Seems that they have a solution for them, to overcome the long (?) waiting for the food. For kids everything which is more than 3 minutes is long. :-)Pizza is different than what you can get in other places. Bread is thinner and it has a specific owen baked taste. We loved it, and if there will be time, we'll go back for sure!
I have enjoyed good times and good food at the Harlequin in Parow, Cape Town, South Africa for 47 years. Recently I was informed by Americo that he worked with Toni in Timisoara for a number of years. So, on a visit to Timisoara I went to Da Toni and met Toni. The man is like Americo a legend and the food is a tale of good Italian eating in two Cities. Pastas are home made from local ingredients, produce is fresh and limoncello is served in both establishments. Americo and Toni share a passion for the good times over continents. And over experienced years. I wish these two creators of good food and good times well in their hopefully still longer contribution to keep the good times and cuisine rolling. Erwin Schwella who loves baby beef al funghi and good osso bucco.
