Steak Customs House - Timaru
Steak Customs House
Description
Steak Customs House in Timaru is a cozy, slightly rough-around-the-edges steakhouse whose food frequently draws raves — perfectly cooked steaks, rich sauces, standout desserts and a good wine list — and friendly, attentive service. The intimate, warm atmosphere (fire, music) suits couples and celebratory groups, though booking communication can be unreliable. A few guests noted overcooked dishes, occasional off-flavours and a need for basic repairs; accessibility is limited by steps. Overall, a top destination for meat lovers seeking high-quality, value-driven dining in Timaru.

The quality and presentation of the food was exception but found the atmosphere a little strange, was like dining at Fawlty Towers with the head chef appearing randomly out of the kitchen a little like Basil Fawlty, was expecting Manuel to show up at some point : That aside, we really enjoyed the food they served us and all dishes were perfectly cooked, highly recommended if in the area Service: Dine in
Honestly would give it more than 5 stars if I could, steak was cooked to perfection. I have heard good things about it but it exceeded our expectations, entree phenomenal, steak phenomenal, dessert phenomenal. I have worked in the industry for a long time, and can definitely say it’s the best food both me and my partner have ever eaten and I could not recommend it more. David was also amazing! Can’t wait to come back! Food: 5
Really good steak! I had the 300g fillet steak and asked for it rare, the steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavour. Potatoes and vegetables were also tasty.
