This is a fantastic spot for lunch or to enjoy a hot or cold drink with a cake, followed by a leisurely walk around the fort. The service is excellent, with a meal type of lunch and prices ranging from £10 to £20 per person. The food is rated 5 out of 5, as is the service and atmosphere. Highly recommended dishes include cake and sandwiches.

Simply put, this is a great café. We visited on Sunday, parked for free in the adjacent car park and was greeted in a friendly manner by the café team a short walk away. Victoria Sponge, Cappuccino and Hot Chocolate was enjoyed whilst staff sang along to ABBA on the radio! It's not a classy establishment but it's very clean, welcoming, informative and friendly... the food offering is high quality and varied, the service polite and accurate; cards accepted. We didn't need to pay Fort admission fees to enjoy the café, we did stroll down to the river side and we could have made the trip much longer if we'd chosen too. I can't recommend enough this excellent café... they even serve breakfast from 10:00am. Thanks to all the staff. Parking: Free Tarmac parking was available despite being already quite full when we arrived. Kid-friendliness: Highchairs are available at the café, bench seating and tables chairs are inside, picnic benches are available outside. Also, within the café building, there are Museum type displays, information points and artifacts (for all ages). Wheelchair accessibility: The café is on ground level and accessible to all.
Lovely spur of the moment visit to the Fort on a chilly autumn day and great food, large mug of tea and delicious cake in the engine room cafe. Lovely to have our little dog inside in the warm too. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30
