Was Jackie Hayes at El Acento a mag?
A small private home sitting on the corner in a residential neighborhood has been converted to a charming intimate restaurant. Sporting hardwood floors and small vestiges of its former life, the kitchen sends out fresh imaginative dishes without unnecessary frills. It isn't needed. The tuna carpacchio with agua chile is to die for. The fish and chicken entrees caused moans of delight among my lunch companions. Baron... View all feedback.

The price is such you don't need a special occassion to enjoy this excellent restaurant. But hurry while you can still get a reservation.

Colonia Cacho is one of Tijuana's oldest residential districts; it was one of the first to spring up as the city grew out of its original city center boundaries. It's now become a very mixed neighborhood with restaurants, pubs, bars and other business ventures mixed in among the residences. El Acento is a lovely restaurant installed in an old two-story house on a corner tucked away 2-3 blocks from Boulevard Agua Caliente which is the main avenue leading out from downtown Tijuana (it's what Avenida Revulución becomes as it heads east).El Acento is now in the capable hands of a young couple who are of mixed Spanish-Mexican heritage. Their food is beautifully prepared and plated. The dining room has been set up in what was once the house's living room and dining room. The decoration is very Spanish casona-like....big fireplace, lots of things on the walls, tables with good china, cutlery and white table linens. Food is prepared with care using the freshest ingredients; they bake all their own bread which is delicious. We've been to El Acento four times already and it's quickly becoming one of our go-to spots. The menu is international and the daily specials depend on what's best in the market that day. Pizzas are lovely, the salads are outstanding, all the desserts are made in-house. This is a place well worth a visit and it will bring you to a part of town you might not otherwise visit. It's a safe, clean, family-oriented neighborhood.
