However, the CLE Fair was in town and the place was sooo busy. Only one person on handling both bar and restaurant. Actually saw big tables get up and leave because the server was so busy. Not good business practice when you know the hotel will be busy. Awesome food in the restaurant and great fun with the bartender Louise and Nella! View all feedback.
What Hassie Luettgen doesn't like about The River Rock Bar & Grill:
Only one member of the wait staff was pleasant. The menu choices are very limited and are mostly greasy deep fried specials. The fish and chips are horribly nasty. Not recommended. View all feedback.

This was a special night I was looking forward to. It was Christmas Day, and I had been generously invited out by a friend for the dinner buffet. Upon arriving, the parking lot was partly full, we had to park quite a distance from the front door. As with most places in the city, the parking lot was covered in ice. Unlike most public places in the city, there was not one drop of sand or salt on the parking lot. Seriously???!!! We gingerly made our way to the door, hoping we weren't going to fall and end up in Emergency on Christmas Day. We met the rest of our party in the large conference room at the end of the hall, where the tables were set up with food. I immediately thought that was a better place to be seated, as we didn't have to walk back and forth from the dining room. Wrong! The room was very cold, and I was reluctant to take off my heavy coat. Everyone else at the table felt the same. I saw a women at the next table with her coat draped over her shoulders. After about 5 minutes of chatting, we heading up to get our food. No one had yet come over to take our beverage order. As I looked over the buffet, I noticed there was nowhere near the selection I was used to at other buffets. I got my salad and cold food first. My fellow diners returned to the table a few minutes later, having take plates of both hot and cold food. One of the first comments I heard from my friend was "This food is cold", referring to her "hot" food. I finished my plate, we STILL hadn't had a server come over and take our beverage order. I went back to the buffet to the hot food selections. I noticed immediately, as I stood by the table, that a vent in the ceiling over the table was spewing our cold air! It felt like the air conditioning was on!! I took my selections from the table, deciding against the container with the few remaining pieces of dried out sliced potato. The gentleman serving at the carving station said not one word the me. He looked at me, I said "Turkey please". I thanked him, he remained mute, no smile. Upon my return to the table, I noticed the others had their beverages. I asked my friend if finally a server had come by. She said "No, we had to wave her over". I started eating, and noticed that the temperature of the food could best be described as "tepid". the food was bland, nothing remarkable as far as taste. If I had organized and booked this evening, I would have asked for the manager and complained. We had to prepay for the meal, and at the price of $38 it was not cheap. Since I was there as a guest, I didn't complain. We did catch the attention of a staff by our table finally, and remarked how cold it was in the room. He said it was "a draft", and they would turn up the heat. Other diners around us also agreed with us, complaining to him about the lack of heat. I finally put my heavy coat on, even wore it to go get my dessert. There was not a huge selection, and once again, none of the food was remarkable. I will NOT be eating there again, and my fellow diners feel the same . What an unfortunate end to what was supposed to be a wonderful, once a year meal!
