My husband, who once lived in Korea, had a hankering for some Korean food so we thought we'd try the Sushi Bowl. WOW! Did it ever impress. My husband rated his bibimbap as probably the best he's had in Canada. I found my Japanese foods to...be extremely fresh and flavourful. The server was very diligent, polite and fast. While in Thunder Bay for a wedding in early August 2017, our seven-member family decided to go to the Sushi Bowl for dinner. Some of us had eaten there last year and really enjoyed it; others had never been there. It is a spacious place; we ate at a regular table at the front of the restaurant, so can't say anything about the more traditional Japanese-style dining area located in the back. The décor is simple, uncluttered, and elegant - it was a very clean, pleasant, and relaxing place to dine. Other reviewers have commented on the slow service, and I would agree, but think it is a fault with the kitchen, not the server, who was very attentive. The food was all excellent when it arrived, and there are some interesting vegetarian selections. I was surprised to see that there were very few other diners, as was the case last year. It may be that residents of Thunder Bay have yet to discover this gem in their city, which seems a great pity. If you are not in a rush, I would highly recommend dining at the Sushi Bowl.
I went to Sushi Bowl today, knowing that it's typically the place with the best sushi in town (my opinion after every visit). Like usual I've got an hour to eat lunch away from work and since its just a short walk from work, figured I would go today. The waiter is responsive if you reach out to him, but you will have to do so because he is alone running around to serve everyone (they desperately need a second guy to help out).I ordered a beef yakisoba dish and it was astoundingly delicious but the ticket time was the longest I've seen in. ever. When I finally got my dish, I chowed down as quickly as I could, burning my tongue in the process as the dish came out on a sizzling hot plate and was lava hot, and I quickly dropped more money on the table then the price as the waiter would likely take another fifteen minutes to help me (they need a second server!). Long story short. Fifteen minutes late for work when I had an hour to eat. Delicious though.

I have never been to the sushi bowl before but I will definitely be back. The food was delicious and very reasonable. Presentation was lovely and the atmosphere is very suiting and enjoyable. Our server was attentive without being over bearing. The menu was very well written and left us with no questions. What you order is definitely what you get. We ordered jalapeño bombs to start, they were delicious, fresh and hot! We ordered the dynamite roll and the calamari tempura roll. Both were delicious and very well presented, we almost forgot to take a photo! The miso soup which came with our sushi rolls was also very well made and the perfect temperature. Overall a fantastic lunch!
I was going to dine with friends in from Japan. I took a nice Japanese Platter to the Sushi Bowl and ordered some rolls and sashimi. They did a lovely presentation and everyone really enjoyed the great quality of sushi. So thank you Sushi Bowl for a job well done!
