My friend and I went to Lincoln Street Eatery the other day for lunch. We both had hot dogs and both were OK. I can't remember what my friend had. I had a hot dog with green mayo, crispy onions, weiner cooked in Guiness Stout and covered with Smoked Porter cheddar cheese. All sound good, except that the chocolate and mocha notes of stout did not enhance or even come out in the weiner, which looked and tasted like a regular boiled weiner. The cheese tasted like regular cheddar cheese. So the high end ingredients did nothing to enhance the hot dog. I may go back and try some of the other menu items, but I'll pass on the hot dogs.
Funky venue, nice people but a cold weiner on a cold stale bun makes for a memorable but unsavoury experience. With all the hype was expecting more.
It's an experience! This perma-parked mobile has some crazy dogs available for take out (or eat at their picnic table). Be prepared to be adventures and try hot dogs topped with egg salad, Jamaican jerk, tea-smoked pork, or any one of a number of crazy options - new combinations posted every week. There's also a couple of sweet options for after. Vegetarian dogs now available. Follow them on Facebook to find out their current offerings. If you are new in town, finding this place is half the fun :)
This hotdogery should be featured on TV! Dogs are served take-ou-only from the window of a trailer parked in an alley. Unfortunately, has been closed since last summer so you need to like them on Facebook to find out if they are doing a "pop up" at local restaurant.Dog toppings change weekly and are crazy inventive - as are the good-natured insults hurled by the staff as you order.
