Thistle Pub Grille - Thompsonville

We were seated promptly and the menu was quite varied. However, the waitress was not very good and claimed to have everything translated for us. We ordered the walleye and the tuna, both of which were excellent, but the shrimp were overcooked and our dessert, a chocolate earth with ice cream, came with a white puddle of melted ice cream. Despite the numerous mistakes, nothing was done to rectify them, and there was a large group of intoxicated golfers who disrupted the atmosphere. Although the food was good, the overall experience was unpleasant and the manager did not give us any reason to return, especially considering the high bill.

I went here at 3pm on a busy Saturday. All staff were very nice and eager to serve. Being a bus driver I did not try any drinks. I did get hot chocolate which was served to me in a clear glass square coffee cup. Should have been a mug. The hot chocolate was very watery even with whipped cream. With a very limited one page menu I ordered the open face sirloin sandwich. It was way over cooked and even with the caramelized onions and mushrooms I could hardly eat the quarter inch thick steak. No, I didn't send it back as I should have. I also tried the chili after reading the reviews, I don't think I had the same kind or something. It was very bland and cool, could have been warmerAll in all I would not bother eating here unless you have to, and I would stick to the sandwiches and burgers.

Really happy with our first visit to Thistle. It was a welcome cozy respite away from the hubbub of the rest of Crystal Mountain. We'll be back!

We had dinner there for my birthday last night. I can't say enough about the food. Our appetizer of Brussels Sprouts was great. It had an unexpected sweet glaze which I wouldn't normally like, but this was fantastic. My girlfriend had the vegetable turkey soup which was great and I had the chili. Again it's a sweeter chili which is not my favorite, but was still delicious. For our main courses she had blackened grouper. It was fantastic. I had the Suze vide 1/2 chicken. I only ate the leg thigh and wing because by now I was full. It was amazing. Even better than the grouper. My girlfriend secretly ordered caramel apple crisp for dessert which came to the table with a candle.The chicken was recommended by our wonderful waitress Kelli. Kelli was awesome, attentive and personable and helped make my birthday dinner special. I cannot give enough praise to Kelli and this place in general. They comped our desert for my birthday.I almost forgot to mention. My girlfriend had the Wipeout. A warm chocolatey/minty drink which was fantastic. I had regular hot chocolate. Maybe the best I've ever had.If you're ever at Crystal Mountain, have a meal at the Thistle. You won't be sorry.

We were a group of 11 and the waitress did a fantastic job of taking care of us. Overall, we were pleased with most of our meal. However, I am only giving 3 stars because the waitress accidentally spilled a whole beer on me. She was very embarrassed (which I completely understood) and other staff quickly rushed to ensure I was okay and got me a new chair. They were very helpful. My shirt, shorts, and even my shoes were soaked in beer. I remained positive about the situation and supported the waitress. Unfortunately, the restaurant did not offer to comp the meal or the beer from the bill, which was disappointing and should have been a standard response from the restaurant. It's a shame that being understanding didn't result in any help. Overall, it was an expensive and damp dining experience.
