Description
**Dining Experience at Pelican Reef: A Mixed Bag**
At Pelican Reef, diners encounter a blend of triumphs and tribulations. While the service is often praised for its attentiveness and warmth, the restaurant's decor feels decidedly outdated. Menu highlights include fresh oysters and impressive seafood platters, though some dishes, like the hush puppies and certain fried items, have left guests disappointed. Accessibility is commendable, with good wheelchair ramps, though parking can be tricky. Despite its flaws, the restaurant offers a relaxing atmosphere and a beautiful view, making it a potential go-to spot for seafood lovers in the area. Overall, experiences vary widely.

The Pelican Reef was recommended and did not disappoint! 2 in our party had the seafood platter, it was huge, they said it was great! I had the shrimp platter, another had blackened grouper, all was fantastic. I'll be going back, hopefully they won't beout of flounder.
Server was nice and the view was good from the patio but the food was horrible. My wife had blackened fish tacos which had more cheese and ranch than fish. The fried oysters had more batter than oyster. The hush puppies were hard as a rock. Thebest part of the meal was stealing the fish and sweet potatoe fries from our kids plates.
If I could give it a half star I would. It is only because of the wonderful waitress and the quickness with which we got our food that I give it one star. Ehen you walk in it looks like it has not been updated since the 70's. We had an appetizer of thecheese balls and they were delicious. My 15 yr old daughter had a cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger was cooked mediumlike we asked but the fries were cold and tasted terrible. My daughter wouldn't even finish them. I ordered fried shrimp andoysters. While the shrimp tasted pretty good the oysters had zero taste. Even when I bit into them it tasted like cornmeal andnothing else. I have eaten oysters my whole life and these were the worst. I ordered a to go box of the West Indies salad totake home for the hubby. Bill Bailey created something so delicious that senators would have it shipped to D.C. and these peopleruined his recipe. Years ago I worked at Baileys restaurant so I know who it is made and what it should taste like. It wasliterally swimming in oil. Very little crab meat and no taste except oil. The prices at this place are ridiculously high, especially for the quality of the food. Usually I try to give positive reviews but this place was terrible.
Food was great...shrimp is huge and battered beautifully. Wait staff worked hard even though they were short staffed. Just know it has a bar attached so be mindful the smoke smell drifts a bit. But overall we really enjoyed it.
Family dinner out on a Saturday.... there were 5 of us and there was basically no wait to get a table. The service was a little slow for as few people as were there, but the food was delicious! Our server was very attentive and made sure our beverageswere kept full (a huge plus in my book).
