This WAS a great place. I especially enjoyed their Kung Pao Beef. Unfortunately, they posted this:Yao Restaurant BarFebruary 18, 2022 It is with a heavy heart that I inform you we have closed permanently. Houston has been our home since May of 2005 and we would not have been able to do that without your continued support over the last almost 17 years. View all feedback.
What homa ottum doesn't like about Yao Restaurant Bar:
This was my first time there . I was the only customer, the service was awful, never had my ice tea refilled, there was no extra plate for food, the food was the worst I ever had I eat out a lot), it seemed as the chicken had died of NATURAL CAUSES!!! , when I mentioned it to the wait person said “ Sorry”and walked away . I should have listened to my 98yrs old Chinese neighbor RIP for not going there. View all feedback.
It’s been awhile I have not had the chance to stop by this place but I did last night and their Peking duck, yum, still the same as it is. The skin is crispy and the meat is so juicy and tender, on top of that you get to see the chef cuts the duck right in front of you. The price is reasonable since the quality of the duck is just awesome. Our server was hilarious and attentive. I’ll have to come back more often.
1st experience was definitely pleasant. Awesome service

We are visiting Houston and decided to try this restaurant. Both food and service are great. We ordered sweet and sour fish, meat ball, green mustard, and Kao Fu. All of them are authentic. The portion is good too. It's fun to see the basketballs with signatures.
