What Nicholas P doesn't like about Acme Oyster House:
First time coming here. I was excited there was a location in Houston since I missed it in New Orleans. I tried the chagrilled oysters. I thought it was kind of salty. Nothing memorable. My entree was the New Orleans medley. It contained gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice and grilled smoked sausage. On paper it sounds great but in reality it was just average. I went for the oysters, because I had heard so much about them. I ordered both fried and chargrilled oysters. They were just ok... lots of butter and lacking in flavor.I would caution anyone dining here to check your bill carefully. Our server included a 20% tip to our bill and claimed it's automatic for parties of 5 or more. However, the menu clearly states in bold letters that the tip is automatic for parties of 6 or more. There were 5 people in our party. When I called it to his attention, he immediately corrected the bill and removed the tip. I normally give a minumum 20% tip when dining out, so it wasn't a big deal, but the problem I had was the fact that he was not honest from the onset.
Food was great enormous oysters! Our server was very friendly and attentive. Lots of TVs to watch games, and plenty of space for large groups and

My entree was the New Orleans medley. It contained gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice and grilled smoked sausage. On paper it sounds great but in reality it was just average. I've been to New Orleans so I was kind of hoping for the same flavor and quality. Service was okay. Overall it was a very mid experience. About a 2.5/5.
I usually come here for the chargrilled oysters which has me in a chokehold lol. In other words, its delicious. Definitely not better than the acme in new Orleans, however, i can settle for this. Have tried their boudin egg rolls which were good. Their gumbo isn't that good as it taste like its from a can. The red beans and rice with sausage was ok. I wouldn't get it again though. And the fried catfish was good, perfectly fried. The boom boom shrimp were good although i though the shrimp were bigger. But that's fine, still was appetizing.
First time there Acme Oyster House did not DISAPPOINT????? ?
