Contribute FeedbackThe overall consensus on the Bruce Wine Bar and Bodega is mixed at best. While some customers have reported excellent food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere, others have experienced slow service, rude staff, and disappointing dishes. The prices have also been cited as high for the quality received. However, there are positive reviews highlighting the great wine list, tasty food, and enjoyable music on certain nights. Overall, it seems that experiences at the Bruce Wine Bar and Bodega vary greatly depending on the day and time.
I have been to the Bruce Wine Bar many times. The food and service is always excellent. Their pizzas are phenomenal! My only negative is that it is hard to get a table on the weekends because it's so popular! So I advise you to make your reservation early.
After reading the reviews, my family was expecting a great pizza experience, but we were underwhelmed with our meal. We ordered a couple of pizza pies, the feature sandwich and the house salad. The Margherita pizza tasted good, but the Fennel pizza could only be described as average, and a bit soggy in the middle of the pie. The salami sandwich was what you might expect in an Italian style sandwich, however a traditional rustic/crusty bun would have made it better. The house salad was bitter with a dressing that was too mild to make an impression. Overall, the lunch was fine, but short on meeting expectations created by the reviews we read.
Today I went to "Bruce Wine Bar" with my family and we were mostly very happy with our experience. The food was very interesting, for example, on the Margherita Pizza there was an interesting addition of parmesan cheese. Someone else who I was with ordered the potato gnocchi which they claimed to be exquisite. The service was nice and we were seated right away after having made a reservation. When it came to dessert everyone I was with ordered a chocolate dessert but some were upset to finding out there were strawberries as a layer after it not being mentioned in the menu. I would recommend this restaurant but make sure you know what you are ordering. Three people were able to get a potato gnocchi, margherita pizza, apple juice, cranberry juice, and two chocolate desserts for $71 before dessert.
We were seated immediately and the service was efficient throughout. The atmosphere was very cozy in a good way and the space was generally cool. Another person at my table and I ordered a pizza, which was fine but not amazing. However the other person at our table told us what the Gnocchi was spectacular. When we got the dessert we ordered a dessert that on the menu was described as basically "brownie, chocolate mousse and whipped cream". However when we got it there were raspberries mixed in which I didn't like and wished was in the description but I picked them out easily and the desert was also fine. Overall it was fine for me but everyone else seemed to love it.
Heard many good things so finally made the trip west. Ordered an app of tuna on recommendation of our server - she knows her menu, both loved it. Tuna was fresh and well prepared. We had trout and Margerita pizza. The trout was perfect, skin crisp and flesh very moist the sides were tasty but a little to many flavors. The pizza was as good as any I've tasted., dough was soft and the toppings fresh. Definitely will go back. Wine by glass was a bit overpriced but a great selection.
