Walked down the river from Tewkesbury The Coalhouse Inn was a lovely place to end up. We had tea and snacks which were great recommend the Whitebait. The real bonus were the proprietors who were amazingly friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back I think they have places to stay so that might be next : Recommended… View all feedback.
What crickleymal2017 doesn't like about The Coal House Inn:
We have visited this pub several times pre pandemic and found it excellent. However our visit tonight was not so good. Nobody was at the bar so we had to wait for 10 minutes before anyone turned up to serve us. All the draught beers and ciders were unavailable so we had to have bottled beer. I asked for Bulmers but was served Magners. We sat in the garden which seemed to be inhabited by screaming kids and their screa... View all feedback.

A great sunday dinner in this hidden gem best to book If you like home cooked food in a friendly place look no further We will return
The food at this restaurant is exquisite and the service is excellent. The salmon was perfectly cooked and my husband loved the butterfly chicken with chorizo. He also raved about the corn on the cob side dish.
Lunch is served from Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon to 2:30 pm at this charming old pub that always offers a warm welcome. We had the pleasure of dining here twice during our vacation. The first time was by chance on a Sunday while strolling along the footpath by the River Severn. We were delighted by the delicious beef roast with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, a generous assortment of vegetables, and a delectable thick gravy. We also appreciated the selection of cider, which has a longer shelf life during these challenging times. Our second visit for lunch was planned as we made our way back from Haw Bridge along the beautiful footpath. We savored thickly sliced ham, eggs and chips with salad, as well as a tuna mayonnaise baguette with chips and salad, accompanied by more cider.
This place is certainly well hidden, down a no-through road from Apperley, and no obvious signs to get you there. At the end of the track you get to a caravan park and you can also make out the river Severn. We went on a sunny Saturday lunchtime and everyone was sat outside in the garden. There were 4 tables of people and so the landlady was rushed off her feet so service took a while. No draught beer so it was a selection of bottles to choose from and the baguettes were perhaps a little pricey but obviously fresh and tasty too. Entertainment, apart from the landlady, came in the form of the many animals (ducks, chickens, doves, etc. in the farmyard plus the shetland pony with the sharp teeth (or at least that's what it said on the sign . Certainly a quiet spot and enjoyable to sit in the sunny garden but a bit of a trek just for bottled beer.
