Johnny Krackers Fish House - Terrell
Johnny Krackers Fish House
Description
This neighborhood seafood spot charms with high ceilings, turquoise-painted floors, string lights and a cohesive seafood theme. Standouts include fried catfish, gumbo and hearty po'boys, plus generous portions and reliable takeout; restrooms are clean and recently remodeled. Service and consistency are uneven—staffing gaps, slow nights, sporadic maintenance and sometimes over-seasoned or poorly executed dishes have been reported, including rare food-safety concerns. Limited beer choices and variable seasoning temper praise, but friendly counter service and solid classics keep locals returning.

This restaurant serves the best catfish I've ever had! The service was outstanding, and I loved the atmosphere—featuring high ceilings and a great seafood theme that is well-designed both inside and out. Additionally, the restroom was clean and recently remodeled. I can't wait to return; this place has so much potential!
My kids have eaten here before, but this was my first time trying it. I arrived on Super Bowl Sunday, February 13, 2022, about 20 minutes before they closed at 4 PM, not realizing it was almost closing time. However, the incredibly gracious woman at the counter still took my order for four takeout meals, even though I could see they were in the process of shutting down. Every item I received was steaming fresh and perfectly cooked, and she went out of her way to ensure I had all the sides and sauces I needed. I truly appreciated her kindness. Thank you for a fantastic experience!
I wasn't very impressed with my experience. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, but many of the string lights were burnt out. There was only one employee working, and I commend her for doing her best, but since she was handling the waitstaff, cooking, and cashier duties all by herself, the service was quite slow. The food arrived hot, but it was overly seasoned and lacked some items that were supposed to be included. Unfortunately, I ended up with food poisoning. I ordered the fried shrimp and have spent the last 12 hours feeling miserable in the bathroom!
The service was sub par, the ambiance was interesting with the indoor string lights and turquoise painted wood floors. The food was not enjoyable, and overpriced. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone who enjoys seafood, I will never be back to give it a second try.
