A restaurant with a great view of Famara beach line. Inside it was crouded and cramped, the food was ok, very nicely plated, but rather expensive for the offer and overall experience.
We went to El Risco after a suggestion of a friend and we can’t imagine leaving Lanzarote without eating there now that we tried. The waiter was extremely kind and patient with specifications of the menu, new additions not listed, recommendations, and service. We had ropa vieja de pulpo with panceta de cerdo—a great surprise of stewed octopus with pork. Then a delicious rice with prawns served with a glass of white wine (Verdejo). We will come back for sure!
Lunched and dined here through our entire stay and it was worth the 20 minute daily drive. We tried another place which disappointed us and decided to stay loyal to El Risco until the end of our stay because of its beautifully curated menu, quality, interior, customer service and gorgeous location. Every day there’s a few special additions to the main menu with the freshest and tastiest local sea food. During our entire stay we tried 70% of the seafood options and the only thing we didn’t quite like is the Skorpion fish as it was deep fried which is not our cup of tea. Everything else was fantastic ! On top of being delicious everything is beautifully presented. I’m salivating as I’m writing this on my way back to London. The photos speak for themselves! The place is beautifully located on Playa de Famara with dramatic views over Graciosa island whether it’s sunny, rainy or cloudy. Secure yourself a table by the window ideally during day light through an advanced reservation to absorb the gorgeous views with your otherworldly food. All the girls that waited our table are careful and good but Amanda is the most special and made every dinner and lunch a great experience! We felt very welcome and looked after every time we visited. I’m not exaggerating I have never never been to a better seafood restaurant in the world and I have been to lots of them and I know seafood! . Hats down to the owner and chef! Bring cash no cards.
We went there for lunch, based on Google map suggestion. We ask waiter, or might have been owner, for suggestions without seeing the menu. We had fried moray eel as a first course and for main course Hake (Merluza) the top part of the fish, including the head. It is split open like a butterfly and baked , then the server take the pieces apart in front of you and serves. It was fabulous, one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. We had no reservation , so we sat in middle of restaurant, you need 3 days ahead to reserve, it is truly worth it, a bit more expensive, but they earned the Michelin rating. Need to pay with cash, so be prepared.
Unbelievable that a restaurant recommended by the Michelin Guide does not have credit cards (January 2023 . The dataphone is dead (are there no bank branches nearby or do they import them from Venus? “We called, but we could not reach you to inform aboutthe issue (false 200% because a cell phone leaves a trace of the calls . The kindness of the three waitresses does not compensate the noise of the crowded place that makes conversation almost impossible. Nor the bad manners of the owner who demands you to eat more than you want. “That’s not enough! You have to order something else!! In addition, there is no wine by the glass with the incredible excuse that there is no local production¿? But they do have it by the bottle. How can be explained? A total disappointment. The raw material is excellent but as in other restaurants in Lanzarote. Just in case you are in the area. If not, there are better options in spite of not being recommended by Michelin.
