Reviews - Plowman's Kitchen
Reviews summary
Plowman’s Kitchens, housed in a charming renovated school band room in Taylor, serves hearty comfort food and memorable desserts with warm, local-minded service. Many praise dishes like chicken‑fried steak, pulled‑pork nachos and flourless chocolate cake, and prices are reasonable. However, visits can be uneven: busy nights bring waits, occasional kitchen mistakes (undercooked or overcooked items, wrong sauces), billing errors, and staffing or management lapses. Regulars love the atmosphere and friendly servers, but expect potential inconsistency.

The filet was cooked to perfection! However, the salmon, which I ordered medium, arrived well done. After an 8-hour road trip, I was really hungry, so I chose to eat it rather than sending it back to the kitchen. The server was very polite, but my water glass did go empty at one point. The atmosphere was great, and there was plenty of parking available. It's also safe for those with celiac disease, as gluten-free opt... View all feedback.
What Ken dislikes about Plowman's Kitchen:
I waited 25 minutes to be seated, even though the restaurant was only a third full. After that, I had to wait another 20 minutes for tea, which tasted like plain water. We ended up sending it back. There's no reason to pay £2.50 for something that just tasted like water. View all feedback.

I am very disappointed with this restaurant. You charge too much for your food, and it’s unacceptable to get orders wrong.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this restaurant, and the staff were wonderful. It felt a bit on the expensive side, but I ended up getting two meals out of it, so the value was good. My only concern was that most of the menu featured pork in nearly every dish. While that's fine for many people, it took me some time to find something without pork. Thankfully, the server was helpful in suggesting alternatives. I genuinely wanted to love this place and return, but ultimately, it just wasn't the right fit for me.

I’d like to thank the responder for your thoughtful reply. Not every business is open to feedback, so it's refreshing to encounter professionals who are kind and receptive to reviews. This is one of the many reasons we love your restaurant and keep coming back. Vegetarian options: There are plenty of excellent vegetable choices!
Wow! You absolutely have to visit this place. The menu is fantastic, the service is top-notch, and the location is quite unique. The fried green tomatoes are simply amazing. This is the first restaurant I've been to in 40 years that serves deviled eggs! We ordered the filet and the pork medallions, and they were both delicious. Don’t miss out!
This was the third time we ate at Plowman and every time the food has gotten worse. Today even the scrambled eggs were so bad I couldn't figure out how a cook could even make and serve something this awful. We will not be back.

This is a fantastic spot in Taylor with an interesting backstory. The food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly. However, I was a bit disappointed that they were out of loaded potatoes and Alfredo sauce for the fettuccine Alfredo. Another minor annoyance was the constant presence of flies, which made it a struggle to keep them away from our food and drinks. Despite these issues, I would definitely come back again.
Great place in Taylor...converted Band Hall. Friendly people and very attentive waiting staff. Like all others, they had tables, but had to manage by not personnel. Wait for a table for brunch on Saturday. The food was good. Deserts okay. Gets 4 stars for options in Taylor and friendly waiting staff and crew. We are included Bill pic
We heard about this place on Instagram when we were getting ready to move to Taylor. It’s awesome that they repurposed the old high school with this restaurant and a few others. This restaurant is in the band hall so there are instruments hanging around: a flute and clarinet lamp, and en tables that are drums. Now for the food. I have never had fried green tomatoes so we got that as an appetizer. It was topped with goat cheese and jalapeño jelly and let me tell you! It was so good. I got the shrimp tacos that come with sriracha mayo and I think mango salsa. The shrimp are blackened and cooked to perfection. They have some pies and cheesecakes in a glass case that you can order to go or when you are dining. They all looked amazing and I can’t wait to come back and try some of them.
I don’t usually give 5 stars. But this place is great. The food is good, fairly priced, with fantastic ambiance. Imagine a converted high school band hall!
This place serves breakfast, lunch and dinner ALL DAY. Yes, you read that correctly. ALL DAY! You want pancakes, bacon eggs at 7pm? You got it! Craving some chicken fried steak at 9am? Done! My daughter and I LOVE always share their breakfast board. It comes with 8 pancakes, 8 french toast, bacon, sausage fruit!!
