Sol Y Luna has fairly good Mexican food. Not great, but worth going for lunch or if you get there before the dinner rush which is any time after They do not take reservations and it can be a very long wait. ALWAYS crowded and noisy. Parking is a hassle unless you valet. Waiters are frenzied and therefore not overly friendly or very attentive. So, why go for sit down? I've decided I prefer the orderthen sit be called... This restaurant was the worst experience ever. We arrived on a Friday night at 9:15, put our name down, and were told it would be a 1:30 hour wait. When we returned after 45 minutes, no one else was waiting and we asked the hostess how much longer. She informed us that the kitchen was already closed, even though we had put our name down an hour ago. When we questioned how they knew our name without asking or calling us, they couldn't provide a valid explanation. Despite our attempts to see a manager, one never appeared. We were eventually seated and told we had to order in 5 minutes before they closed. We ordered a mango margarita, but were brought a strawberry one instead. When we complained, the bartender insisted that mango was sweeter, as if we didn't know what we had ordered. Our waitress blamed us for the mistake instead of taking responsibility. The food took forever to come out, even though the kitchen was closing soon. No manager ever appeared to address the issues or offer an apology. Our family, who love good food, was extremely disappointed and will never return or recommend this restaurant. The potential of the place was overshadowed by the terrible food and service we received. This is not what we expect when paying for a meal.
Sol Y Luna offers decent Mexican cuisine. It's not amazing, but it's worth checking out for lunch or arriving before the busy dinner rush, typically after 6pm. The restaurant does not accept reservations, so be prepared for a potentially long wait. It's always bustling and noisy, and parking can be a challenge unless you use the valet service. The waitstaff can seem rushed and may not be overly friendly or attentive. Considering these factors, I recommend trying the order-then-sit style of dining at Las Fuentes in Reseda or even Senior Sol in Northridge, as they have the same owners, menu, and offer a more relaxed atmosphere that may be easier on your digestive system.
Worst place ever. Got here on a Friday night at put out name down and was quoted a wait. Came back after minutes to find no one was waiting anymore and we asked the hostess how much longer, and be before we could even ask she said the kitchen it closed. But we put our name down an hour ago. Oh yeah, I called you. What name did you call? How do you know our name just by looking at us? Oh umm.. We even called your phone number and no one answered Pulls out phone Nope, no calls. Funny, you never asked us for our phone number anyways. Can we see a manager. Some other girl said oh we can see if they will keep the kitchen open for you so we said ok. In the meantime we waited for a manager to show up. NEVER happened. They sat us down and said we had to order in before they closed. We ordered a mango margarita. Someone else brought out a strawberry margarita and we told them it was wrong. Then the bartender personally comes to the table and says, you know mango is alot sweeter right? Yes, but that's what we ordered, we never ordered a strawberry. Oh? Ok. Our waitress comes back I don't know why he bothered coming here to tell you that, he just got it all mixed up. Basically, she went and instead of telling him she got the order wrong, she blamed it on us and said the first one was way too sweet and we wanted a mango margarita instead. Blamed the mistake on us. Wise.Anyways, ordered the food, food came out. Mind you the kitchen was closing in minutes but there was food coming out for a good minutes and even after we were done paying our bill. No manager showed up to discuss what happened, offer a simple apology or acknowledge that they had incapable people working there. We left and never came back. My family and I are major foodies so this was a major disappointment. We will never return or recommend coming here. The place seemed like it had potential but the food and service sucked, and that's not what we pay for
