Was Gina Irvine at Goosefeather a mag?
I had no idea this hidden gem was located in Tarrytown! My daughter selected Goosefeather for our family dinner to celebrate my 60th birthday, and it was truly remarkable. The restaurant offers a modern take on Asian cuisine and boasts eclectic decor. The food was outstanding, and the staff was attentive and friendly. The grounds are delightful for a stroll, or you can simply unwind and watch the fireflies after a wo... View all feedback.
What Omer sp dislikes about Goosefeather:
The food was excellent! However, I can't recommend this place. The hostess lied to us, stating there were no tables available except at the bar, when that wasn't the case. I don't understand why she felt the need to do that. We made a reservation through the Resy app and were seated in the garden. This isn't how you should run a restaurant. After seeing the owner's reaction to my review, it's clear why the service he... View all feedback.
The food was delicious and notably more innovative and unique than typical offerings, even at good restaurants. The Shaved Snow Pea dish, featuring strawberries, Hot Sour Tamarind, Peanuts, and Pickled Chilis, was outstanding. Likewise, the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, complemented by a savory and tangy sauce, were fantastic. Even though the restaurant was bustling and we were quite full, the service was impressively quick—among the fastest I've ever encountered. The servers were well-informed and carefully shared the chef's suggestions on how to enjoy some of the unique dishes. Cathy, the manager, was very pleasant and checked in on us two or three times, clearly monitoring the flow of service and ensuring that all diners were satisfied with their meals. We had a wonderful experience and will certainly be returning more frequently.
TL;DR EAT HERE If you 're looking for a beautiful place to have drinks AVOID If you 're wanting amazing food AVOID If diversity in patrons is important to you Ambiance Stunning interior and location. Although the decor is a bit odd and a clash of styles (staff wearing Hawaiian inspired clothes? , the actual restaurant itself is IN the King Mansion which is grandiose and beautiful. Staff From the moment you walk in, everyone was very friendly and attentive. The timing from being seated (immediately to having our order taken to getting our food, everything was prompt. Food This was definitely the biggest disappoint. The menu is allegedly cantonese inspired but was far from it. We ordered six dishes and of the six, the best one was the Shaved Snow Pea salad which is kind of a disappoint considering it was our first dish?everything was downhill from there. The Sweet Summer Corn was the worst dish of the six. It looked vibrant and packed with color when it arrived but was disappointedly bland and one note. The presentation of each meal was beautiful and enticing however, everything we ordered tasted subdued. Lastly, seeing a menu for a restaurant of this caliber with impossible beef on the menu was surprising. Had the Dan Dan Noodle dish used tofu instead, it would 've not only been more authentic but also more palatable. Overall experience We dined in for dinner on a Friday at 5pm and the place was packed. We 're two non drinkers and got sat near the bar which was very loud and busy. Probably 98% of its patrons were of a certain country club type so if diversity is important to you, I definitely wouldn 't try this place.
The occasion was an anniversary party. The food service was Chinese. I found every dish tasted similar to the one before. Normal different Chinese dishes are completely different tastes. This restaurant was not at all as higher quality as they profess to be. It is possible if you are buying one dish it might have been prepared in a more carefully. The staff was exceptional. The service was excellent and the people attending by were able to prepare it almost any type of drink you wanted to order. Deserves their or very vigilant in making sure everyone myself probably and anything needed at the bar that were happy to help get it to you. I don't feel I will ever have a desire to revisit that particular setting to eat.
I visited the big lawn at Goosefeather on a Friday night. Seating was open and had a cool backyard vibe. There was DJ that night. He played a mix of music. There was a little bar cart to get drinks. We ordered the kung pao wings and black pepper beef.Everything was delicious. Our servers were attentive. It started to rain a little and we were provided umbrellas. The partydidn't stop. We had a great time.
