Palettes, the hotel’s casual restaurant and bar, delivers reliable service, convenient parking and accessibility—open even on holidays. Menu highlights include sopapillas, smothered steak burritos, fish and chips, stuffed jalapeños and nachos, though several dishes show inconsistency: burgers often overcooked, some sausages underwhelming, and prices can feel steep. The bar area offers a pleasant atmosphere, but drink service can vary. Overall, a solid choice for hotel guests and casual diners seeking convenience rather than fine dining.
While I appreciated the two large sausage patties, they were dry and lacked flavor. They reminded me of low-quality frozen patties from Walmart – bigger and tastier than what I had. I find it hard to believe that making a decent batch of real sausage gravy is so difficult. In summary, don’t expect top-notch food at this restaurant. However, if you value easy parking and great service, this place is a good option. It is also accessible for those with disabilities.
The menu may be limited, but everything they offer is prepared to perfection! Food: 5/5
I stayed at the Don Fernando for three weeks while on a fire assignment and dined here almost every night, trying nearly the entire menu! The highlights included the sopapillas, smothered steak burrito, fish and chips, fried stuffed jalapeños, and the oversized salads, as well as the nachos. However, the burger was consistently a bit overcooked on three occasions, and the prices are a bit steep. Nevertheless, it's overall quite good for hotel food. The service was always friendly, and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, although only the bar area was open during my stay, not the full dining area.
