While some were disappointed by a recent change in the salad, the sandwiches continue to receive high praise. The friendly staff, including local youth employees, contribute to the smooth operation of the restaurant. Customers appreciate the affordable prices, especially for options like gluten-free bread. Overall, Brooklyn Pickle West is a must-visit spot for fresh, tasty sandwiches in Syracuse.
Wowza! This is an AMAZING local sub/sandwich shop. They have the best gluten free bread I?ve ever tasted and I loved how reasonable their prices were for gluten free bread. It sucks when places charge a ridiculous amount for bread?I will come again. They have the best tasting pastrami and Reuben meets I?ve ever had
Sandwiches were amazing, Mac n cheese IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD... Love how half the kids just hang out in the back near the register chit chatting, while the old lady is banging them sandwiches out, and 2 other girls are actually working. GREAT sandwhich!
Fresh sandwiches and subs at this local Syracuse institution, which has been for almost 50 years. Very friendly staff and service at this point with a large enlarged seating area with large windows. The sandwiches were MTO and gave us two different types of pimples that were both great. The chicken salad was excellent like the Brat-Rind sandwich, so I don't think you could go wrong! Definitely gets back and get a T-shirt for just $9.
I had the corned beef sandwich, and it was just okay—not great, especially when compared to delis in NYC. The beef itself was somewhat bland and didn't have the rich flavor that fresh, quality corned beef usually offers. I wish they had the fatty corned beef like most places in NYC and that they carved it fresh when making the sandwich instead of using pre-sliced meat, which would help retain the juices. Additionally, I would have preferred genuinely sour pickles instead of the ones they provided. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and is self-serve, so it's worth a visit.
The restaurant could really improve the bread used for their sandwiches. By the time your food arrives and you sit down to eat, the bread becomes soggy, making it necessary to use a fork and knife and remove the wet parts.
