One of Germany‘s finest restaurants sits at its tip: Sylt is worth a trip either way, but if you make Bodendorfs im Landhaus Stricker a stop, I promise you won’t be disappointed. World class dining, served in a cozy yet chic ambience, along with excellent staff. And good value, to boot. What’s not to like? I, for one, love it.
Absolute disaster! Already started with the entrée... Here they have put the brakes on costs at the expense of the kitchen and to the suffering of the staff in the dining room! It was extremely unpleasant!!! We have met a few guests over the past few days who were also disappointed with what was on offer. But first. Very friendly operating staff! Unfortunately, the star kitchen failed to give the staff who are at the front with the guests the necessary instructions. So the gentleman didn 't know exactly how to put which cutlery. AGAIN ! I just want to go into basic things here... Okay... I ordered fillet, medium, and cold potato and leek soup with shrimp... This was ok. As a drink I wanted to get a Chardonnay Bauer openly for 12.50 euros per 0.2 liter glass. This came too. AND NOW IT WENT DOWNHILL. My beef fillet was riddled with tendons, almost raw and therefore inedible. In addition, people did not understand that it would be an advantage to receive a steak knife with a fillet or rum steak. This didn 't work either. After my complaint that the steak was stringy and raw, nothing happened at first... Finally, the completely overwhelmed waitress (again, I really felt sorry for her) came out of the kitchen, trembling with a plate and a small fillet steak, as a correction . So. what 's wrong in this star hotel ... No chef came to apologize. Just leave the operation alone? Next point, went bad again!!! I ordered a second glass of Chardonnay for 12.50 euros and suddenly the waitress came with two glasses (my wife doesn 't drink alcohol). We told the waitress that it must be a mistake, we just wanted a glass of “Chardonnay”. I tasted it and noticed that it was a Pinot Gris that was on the menu for 8.50 euros. I spoke to the waitress about this mistake and she disappeared into the kitchen without a word. Then came the question of all questions...: Was it a nice evening for you? ?! I looked at her and said that it was probably not a serious question... Okay, so in the Frustet store I was deducted 12.50 euros for a Pinot Gris that was delivered incorrectly. As I said. If you want quality and taste for your money, you might want to forego a bit of frills and visit a restaurant that admits its mistakes and has a staff that has been trained accordingly beforehand. Definitely not a recommendation from us Conclusion: The star of the restaurant was covered in clouds in the evening. From my little restaurant trip on Sylt, definitely in last place. No attempt was made to apologize for the evening.
On May 31st we went with friends (four of us) to eat at Bodendorf 's in Landhaus Stricker. Unfortunately, my first review was probably deleted via Google, so here it is again, in more detail. When we made the reservation we ordered the vegetarian menu twice, which was not a problem. Right from the start, the waiter couldn 't tell us which champagne was served with the aperitif. There was no corresponding wine accompaniment. We ordered a Bordeaux, it wasn 't opened before us. The cork was completely defective/broken, which is why the Bordeaux was sieved. The carafe was way too big and pieces of cork were still in the wine. The Bordeaux from the 90 's was constantly being panned, which didn 't make the wine any better. We asked for the wine to sit so the boquete would settle, we were then told the wine needed to breathe... From the 3rd course we watched each other eat until dessert, because the service/kitchen didn 't manage to send the courses at the same time. Before dessert, Mr. Bodendorf came running through the restaurant and wanted to know why we were so frustrated . He then gave us the tip to do more sport, like he does with his son, so that we would be fit in the evening . After I wrote the review on Google, I got a call. Unfortunately, no one was interested in why the rating was so bad, they asked what I had to do to delete the rating. I was offered money for it. I transferred this back, but the review was deleted anyway.
